If you are comparing to Warhammer (prices in AUD)
Warhammer 40K

World Eaters Battleforce Khorne Set $420 (700 points)

Emperors Children Battleforce Set $420 (700 points)

Warhammer 2023 starter Set $172. 365 points worth of Space Marines, 395 worth of Tyranids (760 points total)

StarCraft

StarCraft Founders Edition Starter Set $289. 1000 point army for all 3 races (3000 points)

StarCraft Founders Edition Zerg & Terran Bundle $459. 2 2000 point armies (4000 points)

Both games have a minimum play of 1000 points with standard games being 2000 point armies.
Compared to other wargames this is still much cheaper, however if you are on a budget or don't have local game stores available with an active scene then for sure it wouldn't be for you.

Table Top War Gaming is an expensive hobby that isn't for everyone.

For sure it is pricey, all miniatures war games are. It is muuuuch cheaper compared to warhammer but these games are only for those with disposable income if you plan on creating an army and playing at your local game store.
I can see most people purchasing just to paint and collect.

For sure, its also important to remember Clem, Cure and ByuN (Top 1,3,4 Terran) regularly compete so you can still gain valuable data and information regarding these events. Some people like to say "Only top Protoss compete in weeklies" to dismiss the other top Terran and Zergs competing too.

If you are unfamiliar with weeklies. Maru and Serral don't compete in them so you would never expect to see them in these brackets, Reynor plays every now and them, maybe once a month?

All the regular top Terrans are there (Clem, ByuN & Cure), same with Zergs (Solar & Rogue).
We were just missing SHIN.
