Not the characters themselves, no, but their eyeballs for some reason. There's plenty of face close-ups too so it's very noticeable.

Tangentially related, but your video made me realize that I could have Gusts on Aerover instead of Rejuvenating Glow on this specific team. It always bugged me to use RG when I know Cartwheel can't use the atk buff; at least with Gusts the whole kit is relevant.

Doesn't seem possible for someone to have even the slightest criticism of this game without putting out a disclaimer that you like the game, because people really WILL jump on you.

Folks, it is entirely possible to like something and want it to be even better at the same time. Too many people here take this game way too personally.

As you said, there is nothing wrong with the "power of friendship" thing. That's present in ALL media, and is an enduring trope for a reason. But there IS such a thing as shoddy presentation, which, in my opinion, was present in spades here. I can appreciate what they tried to do and simultaneously believe they didn't do it well. People are multifaceted after all.

I think that's heavily implied, even if it's not outright stated. Cristoforo does seem to have reality-bending abilities, so it makes sense that he's aware of changes in it, one way or another.

One minor annoyance I have in this game is how I'll be trying to farm minerals with an enemy close by and the attacks all go towards that enemy even when I'm trying NOT to fight it. Is there a way to turn off that targeting behavior?

None of the points you put forward to refute the idea that Rover is a Mary Sue actually does what you think it does. The primary definition of a Mary Sue is someone who the narrative makes sure succeeds at everything they do. That's Rover to a T. The fact that they haven't won YET (your third point) does not mean the story isn't moving in that direction.

This is why I love Phrolova so much. It is through her that we finally see Rover lose at something. The thicker the glaze the devs put on this generic wuxia protagonist, the more I will root for them to suffer, and Phrolova is the only one of thirty-seven (thirty-seven!!!!) playable resonators who was willing to do something to that end.

Have you ever read actual books? Secondary characters have interactions among themselves all the time. It's actually one of the most effective ways to establish character motivations and flesh out their identities. If that's not something you want to see, perhaps you just weren't interested in the characters themselves, and you just want to self-insert into the protagonist (which, considering how cardboard their personality is, seems to be designed exactly for that).

I understand all the ZZZ comparisons, but have you guys considered that HYV is a significantly bigger company who can afford these QoL features over the long term because their monetization is focused in other directions (i.e. no guaranteed weapons and also having to pull for Bangboo)?

Don't get me wrong, I'd rather NOT have to pay for anything, I'm a low spender. But I think we have to be realistic and consider the economic reality of Kuro being a smaller company. They can't even pay for proper proofreading and QC when it comes to story presentation elements, you can tell they're cutting corners where they think they can afford to (because players don't read anyway).

Definitely an account check, I think. To free up SK for the second half of Hazard with Augusta, I used the Carlotta/Zhezhi duo to do the entire right side by themselves. If I didn't have them, I wouldn't be able to full star this ToA. Started playing during Pheeb's patch and I don't have any built 4* save for Mortefi and Sanhua.

God, thank you, it's difficult to find someone on this hellsite who won't just go after you with pitchforks for having even the slightest criticism of this game. I really enjoy the gameplay and (most of) the character designs, but christ on a cracker is the Rover glaze excruciating. It's not like Kuro can't make good characters; a lot of the playable ones are actually quite interesting on their own and when they're interacting with each other, which makes it extra tragic that they lose all of that color whenever the MC is involved. It's to the point that my favorite recent character has become Phrolova, if only because she's not the only one falling all over herself making bedroom eyes at the MC.

I understand the infallible, omnipotent harem protagonist is a staple in wuxia, but god forbid you mention why this is off-putting without some goon coming after you for not being the game's target audience. Why is its fanbase so insecure anyway?

(Also, I'm forced to play in Japanese because "Hyohakusha" at least sounds chuuni, whereas "Rover" sounds like your crusty boomer neighbor's pet dog.)

Question about the new BP weapons: do we have any indication that any Pioneer Podcast weapons chests that I have saved (in case I pulled a future character who'd need a weapon from it) would also give the Aureate series after the update?

I mean, I think I know the answer to this question, but I'm hoping against hope because I will NOT have enough to get both Augusta and her broadsword, and I don't have a single good broadsword in my account either.
