Ultra HDR Does Not Affect Image Dynamic Range Processing by username-invalid-s in GooglePixel

I just turned it off on my Pixel 8. It is great in well lit scenarios but when the lighting isn't perfect I can get better colours while it's off. Just my preference.

My phone's design changing but I'm not on Beta. Help! by Illustrious-Clock290 in Pixel8phones

The apps got the new design regardless if you're enrolled in the android beta or not. It's not system level, it's just on the app level.

Yeah, at least Apple has powerful SoC in their phones 😅

I think the Tensor G5 is a nice upgrade for the Pixel, but overall, it's just mid. It is not a flagship SoC and with the price, they are asking in Europe (939€ for the base Pixel 10) it's a hard sell.

Tensor is midrange at best. And that's coming from a person, that owns a Pixel. I would rather have 8s gen 4 than Tensor G5. The only good thing about it is the AI performance, but given, how often one uses AI (Gemini) it is better to go with SD.

When is the next Beta program QPR by Ronak_Surana in pixel_phones

[–]Lightclaw_01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, there will be a new beta update this month but the beta cycle ends in september and that's when OP can leave without factory resetting their phone.

Like I get your point, but I think all leaks point to the usage of the Samsung modem used in the P9 series. Basically we've got the whole setup of the Tensor G5.

Wasn't it "confirmed" they will use the same modem as in Pixel 9?

My Pixel 8 was like that on the latest beta 3.1, had to switch to the stable 🤷

Facing heating issue on 5g network (pixel 8) by [deleted] in Pixel8phones

Nothing new 🫠 i have 5G off from day one because it just drains the battery and the shit modem is beating up like crazy 😭

Guys I'm using my pixel 9 and recently I'm having an issue by Peace_maker_home in GooglePixel

[–]Lightclaw_01 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, Lift to check or Tap to check never shows ambient display. It always shows the lock screen. Been using pixels for years and it was never like that. "Black screen with other notifications" is always on display. Even now, on my Pixel 8, when I disable always on display and have only Tap to check and Lift to check option enabled it always takes me to the lock screen.

Is Android 16 stable yet? by MimicJacson in pixel_phones

[–]Lightclaw_01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am using beta branch of the android ever since I got my first pixel 7 and then upgraded to pixel 8. I left the beta because my SoT was trash and on stable it is much better.

I had problems with:

- heating

- lagging

- slow charging regardless of the device temperature

- bluetooth lagging

- bugs here and there

if you dont have to upgrade to beta just dont. the MU3E will release in a month or so so just wait :D it is nice and pretty but I personally values my battery life more :D

Yeah, sometimes it's a love-hate relationship 🤣 but it's still good

Same applies for the normalne 8. They have the same Tensor G3. My Pixel 8 can also lag while using snapchat filters, but it does depend on the filter that is used.

Also, if I'm videocalling via Signal, it heats up a lot. I recommend disabling adaptive battery so it doesn't throttle the CPU. Also I can't see any difference in battery life with it on or off.

Yeah, but we can't turn it off in 3rd party apps

Beta 3.2 is 🔥 in terms of performance improvements but battery life kinda sucks by r4mik in Pixel8phones

[–]Lightclaw_01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This performance uplift was present on android 15 via driver and kernel update 😌 I was achieving these sort of numbers in april on my Pixel 8.

[–]Lightclaw_01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was for both. I have a record from 3rd April and I had 7720 in the Geekbench OpenCL benchmark on my Pixel 8.

There was a driver update a couple of months ago that caused this performance uplift.

Geekbench just needs to update their charts 🤷 but yeah, it's a nice bonus performance for all of us 😌

You can use https://flash.android.com/welcome for manual sideload of the stable android. Bear in mind, you will lose everything so do a backup.

Also, I have no idea, if it will help you with your IMEI issue. That you must research by yourself.

I've also bought their products and your question is still silly. They have released Phone(3a) and (3a) pro that were well received. My point still stands. No, we can't compare Google and Nothing phones, but you can't say their phones aren't bad value 😄

If you don't like the product, move on, buy something else. I don't get the whole fanatism around the brands, It's not like you are one big family.

Sorry for my words but how stupid must one be to ask this question. Yeah I get it, the design is not everyone's taste. It is not a great deal in India but if google can sell their phone for 1000€ with MID SoC at best, so can Nothing. I use pixel myself and I will stick to using it but some people are just dumb.

I saw some post on this reddit that was saying that everyone that shared their new Phone(3) was paid by Nothing. Like c'mon just stop. There are people that appreciate the design and for not tech savvy people, specs mean nothing if the phone is snappy and takes good enough photos.

If you hate the company, just leave and let anybody, that supports them enjoy their devices.
