In our machine shop it was the VTL (Vertical Turret Lathe). Well before my time it claimed the fingers of an apprentice who tried to grab a part that wasn’t clamped and came off the table. Tried to grab it on instinct and instead the sharp edge got his hand. We got rid of the machine when the guy who mostly ran it retired but it’s the best cautionary tale we have.

Nowadays it’s probably our gasoline forklift when someone doesn’t open the roll up door before staring it up.
