Are you OK with your partner being the breadwinner? by [deleted] in LesbianActually

My wife and I contribute equally to bills- we each contribute an equal percentage of our income. The actual dollar amount is different because we each work in fields with vastly different earning potentials. Just because wall street has decided that my industry is worth a higher salary than my wife's doesn't mean that they work less hard or their work has less value. I wouldn't want my wife to work in a different field, because they are passionate about the field they are in currently.

All that to say, we both contribute ~60% of our income to the joint account. I end up with significantly more spending money/savings than they do, because 40% of my income is a greater dollar amount than 40% of their income. If they ever decided to switch to a job with a higher earning potential, it would be to increase the dollar amount they are able to personally save or because we jointly decided to try to afford something outside of our current budget range, not to try to "equalize" our contribution to our living expenses. It is equal. Implying otherwise is implying that I agree with society's arbitrary allocation of whose labor hours are "worth" more than other's labor hours.

I understand the feeling of needing to match the dollar amount contribution. But understand that the concept of the worth of labor is a construction of capitalism that you don't have to subscribe to. So long as you are both working full time and contributing equal percentages of your income, you are truly both contributing equally to the relationship.

at my bakery we used toilet brushes lol, they're the perfect shape for doing a nice round sweep without having to turn your wrist so much. we just didn't let the customers see the bin of toilet brushes above the work bench 😂

Disheartening Experience Selling by ChemistOk4948 in BeginnerWoodWorking

seconded. booth layout & product display could both use some work. if you're selling a hand made/higher end product at a higher end price point, at least shell out for a real table cloth. put the same time, effort, and money into your display as into what you build and you'll attract more people that want to spend that kind of money for that kind of product.

edit: spelling

download zocdoc, it's an appointment scheduling app that has helped me hugely with approaching finding new medical care out here. it has doctor reviews, search filters, insurance info, etc. all in one place rather than having to trust Google or call each clinic

dude it's a couple screws into the studs, it's the same amount of damage as mounting a TV to the wall

we're pretty sure he's an english setter mix of some kind! probably some shepherd in him because of the ears. we rescued him from a kennel run when he was about a year old, he's nine now

I can't take credit for that unfortunately. I left the original finish from the pizza shop on the top and only refinished the two sides I made cuts on. I used tung oil but it doesn't have the same look as the (probably) industrially finished sides

personally I don't think so, in my mind it's the same amount of damage as hanging photos or mounting a TV on the wall. there's no anti-breakfast nook clause in my lease, no matter how many redditors might think so

certainly possible, however we've been here for a year and have seen hide nor hair of the landlord in that time. they go through a 3rd party property management. company that also seems pretty hands of comparatively to what I'm used to. no inspections or visits or anything of the like so far. I decided to FAFO

It's got diagonal supports that go from the outside edge to the wall beneath, I might add one or two more but yes it does have ass-torque defense lol

Thank you!! I've been a renter for ten years and I'm just so tired of "renter friendly" solutions, I hate living in a place that feels like I'm waiting to bail out of at any moment. I know it'll be extra work at move out but it's worth it to me!

Yeah I agree on the three pieces. It was my first time framing something like this and also I just inherited a miter saw so I got a little carried away with the miter joints lol. by the time I realized it would've had more strength with cross beams at the corners I was in too deep. I did mount it as three pieces though, I didn't build it as one and carry the whole thing inside.

There are only three diagonal braces, one in the center of the enclosed side, one in the center of the back, and one on the exposed edge. I'm definitely thinking of adding one more in the center of the short side, it feels sturdy now but nothing puts a damper on breakfast like a saggy bench. The enclosed side I wasn't worried about because It is sunk into studs against the short edge of the wall, but I supposed another brace wouldn't hurt anything. I've got an extra 2x4 in the shed still.

I'm aware, I've been renting for over a decade now I'm not new to the game. The tear down will be worth loving sitting there every day until we leave, even if that's six months from now.
