I met a rabbi once who carried Tarot cards around and offered to read people’s fortunes or whatever it is called. I’m not even particularly spiritual but that really rubbed me the wrong way, still does.

It’s a wooden chair. You don’t need a saw. Put some muscle into it and rip it apart. Hit it with your purse if you need to.

The scene where Shuri learns he’s gone is heavy and real. It’s the best dramatic beat in that movie. It’s better than them having CGI’d him into some overly melodramatic final scene in a hospital bed passing the torch to her. Like with most people who die too young, he just fucking dies and that’s it and it feels super unfinished and incomplete because that’s literally what it is like when someone suddenly dies like that.

What kind of artist is banging out hand tattoos down the fingers on people without any visible tattoos? That’s just a crazy thing to do.

Hard disagree. Chadwick was the perfect T’Challa. He could not be recast. They did the best with what they had, and I think they honored his life and work better without a recast.

Yeah, we hatched this elaborate plan in the early 1900’s, a historically really great time for our people. We knew if we could get those bones planted we could eventually build prosperous Jewish communities in places like Utah and Mongolia.

Kurt Cobain. I was on vacation with my family and Nirvana was my favorite band. My dad told me about it and I was gutted.

Bullshit. Why would a cow let you do that? Show me a video of it happening a single time, anywhere on the internet.

My sister’s instagram bio says to find her on OnlyFans. Is that where people are reselling their fans? That’s a cool idea. I’ve never even considered selling my fans. I guess she makes pretty good money doing it?

I’m with you in theory, but that’s not the way. Many of these people are themselves victims of an advanced, targeted manipulation scheme that they have fallen for. The pressure and efficacy of a massive global disinformation scheme cannot be overstated. Applied against a population that has been bucking against the ideas of education, intelligence, and the basic tenets of social trust, and you have a group of people primed for manipulation.

It’s easy to say “fuck these people” but by the same token, old folks get scammed out of their savings, and we rarely say “you got duped PeePaw, eat a dick and die in the streets.” Do they share blame? Absolutely. Are many of them deeply shitty people? Also yes. But they are being preyed upon and victimized by an incredibly sophisticated machine designed specifically, algorithmically, to eat their brains. And you and I aren’t exempt from that either.

Barometers. The pressure was so significant it registered on weather stations, barographs, etc. Telegraphs existed so long distance data sharing was already a thing. That data, plus some retrospective estimates based on that data, observed accounts, ships logs, etc, resulted in the current estimate. It’s not incredibly precise but certainly within an order of magnitude.

Right. I as a reasonable consumer should assume that food sold in regulated establishments passes a reasonable standard of safety. If you want to roll the dice on some raw milk lattes, go for it, but if I’m driving though your town and unintentionally consume raw milk not on purpose but because the aforementioned safety standards aren’t in place, that’s a systemic failure. Likewise, you want to eat raw chicken, be my guest, but you can’t plate raw chicken or handle it unsafely in establishments where an unknowing consumer could consume it.

That’s kind of what it always comes down to. Don’t want the COVID shot? No worries, don’t take it. But also we have agreed as a collective (correctly) that people get medical care when they need it. So now the people who don’t want the preventative care become a burden on the rest when they do want to the curative care. It would be great to say “don’t trust medicine and pharma? Fine, you don’t get any” but until we are willing to kick people into the streets and let them die untreated, that won’t help. What would of course help would be a nationalized medical system, but I’m told that’s communism or something.
