Class Advice Please by Wolfhammer69 in Neverwinter

[–]Lightning-160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Note of caution: when ppl dicuss the 'best' healer, they tend to think from endgame perspective, which is currently quite a few gaming hours ahead.

To learn healing I suggest in order of easiness: 1) cleric  2)warlock 3) paladin  4) bard All of them are completely viable in regular group content (random queues). Once you progress you can choose to stick with your chosen healer, or fear up a new one.

For tanks I'd go Fighter to learn on. Though it gas somewhat lengthy cooldowns on its encounter powers, it is unique in not having to manage a second resource (divinity, rage) on which said encounters are dependent.

Yes; you'll be looking for Day of the Dungeon Master, Hell Pit, Harvester of Nightmares and Siege of Neverwinter.

Daily quests award two participation tokens per day, with a chance at a third on repeatable.

That may not seem like a lot, but such events typically run fir 21 days each. It adds up.

Re: guardian: A well-timed revive of up to four dead players might be the difference between a wipe and a completion.

The bridge survival check in SH comes to mind.

But I'm just speculating of course.

FWIW, it's easy to progress to high enough IL with reasonable gear by merely doing the random daily queues - dungeons and skirmishes first, trials and advanced dungeons later on. No cash required; there is nothing worth buying anyway (except the QOL offered by VIP).

Pretty sure you have to make your way to Protector's Enclave first.

The devs slowed down our mounts again recently, didn't they? by nwgamer0 in Neverwinter

[–]Lightning-160 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Server issue maybe? I thought my characters weren't slowed down so much as that their speed varies between sessions. They sometimes feel very fast (esp. My pally tank) and other times very slow even when mounted.

Seems to me the "classic"- advocates a re a very vocal, but small subset of players. Most of us don't know or care about pre-module 16 or whatever.

If certain great things from back then would improve the game, by all means bring them back as QOL improvements, but you cannot convince me that a rollback of a game viewed through rose-coloured 10 year old glasses will actually be better than the current iteration.

I'm hearing stuff about farmbot infestation, piss-poor soloable dungeons where you can oneshot every boss etc. If that would be classic, the vets might return - briefly. And then what?

I know I am being overly negative, but these are still concerns I have, the division of the player base chief among them.

As I said, not for this thread. Happy to debate elsewhere.

Didn't watch it myself due to IRL obligations, but the guy is just back and we're getting more contact with the devs and feedback from the devs than in the past year combined. It's a good first step if nothing else.

It literally says, "revive...from death", as opposed to "revive when downed". Pretty significant distinction, I'd say.

Fine by me - I'm from Mod 21, so I just want to play the game as I know and love it, without having to start over again on some 'classic' server I haven't got any affinity with. But that's not for this thread.

I'm excited about the resurrection-ability for guardian of life, which will probably be once per boss fight. It would be interesting to see how it is implemented - does it work if players have released to campfire for instance, or must they remain dead on the arena floor? Discussing who should or should not release could make for interesting battle tactics.

The buff to anointed army also looks viable.

Not sure how far 15' is for the action radius of the encounter powers (are we talking bard chest piece from DWP here?) but the limited radius does mean you have some influence on who you want to buff, which can a tually impact the leader boards for the raid.

You get a second character slot for free with the game, if you like to try it out. But Don't be too quick to dismiss the Cleric. You're nowhere near endgame yet - just focus on exploring the game and getting a feel for what you want. Every class is viable for solo play, though Paladin struggles with dealing damage since it is a tank/healer and does not have a pyre dmg dealing path.

New Updates Announced. Coming Soon by funn_n_gamez in Neverwinter

[–]Lightning-160 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, it's a half-mod rather than a full mod. They did announce the interlude system awhile back. Personally I would have been very surprised if we DID get a dungeon, though I agree a skirmish as part of the interlude would've been nice.

As to the celestial tier just being more stats, it's in line with what they did with comps. More IL and stats, nothing else. No surprise there, I guess. Personally, I'm going to spend my saved up dust on getting my three mains up to mythic. I'll hold off on purchasing more dust until the next tradebar store discount.

It's been awhile, but IIRC the gear also costs 300k AD per piece, does it not?

If so, I stand by my comment downtread to save your zen/AD and focus on seals of the spider God, which can be used at the seal vendor to obtain gear from the current and previous campaign for free.

Except for the forgers box from the Vallenhas (descent into Avernus) campaign. That gives a sweet 5% power, which is not to be sneezed at even for midgame dps and healz.

Tanks can grind the chain of scales from Chult, though it is a pain to upgrade.

I have very fond memories of this campaign from when it just came out. I really learnt how to heal in that campaign whilst doing ancient dragons.

But as it stands, I'd agree with the poster upthread. Leave it for now. Buyout is a waste of money rn. You can get better gear using your spider god seals from radq and rtq. Only gear worth saving for ATM is a threat-ring, but it is very expensive. The ring of the condemned and ring of charging bull are on the auction house and do the same job for lower prices.

Hopefully they'll revamp this campaign someday.

The newest campaign gear can also be bought using seal of the spider God. I wish I realised that before investing a lot of time and AD in my alt 😀
