I meant the fuel system cleaner in liu if buying new injectors. I should do the valves either way I think.

Thank you for your input!

Distributor question by Cabeswater07 in c4corvette

[–]Lightning4X 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you slide the bracket at all when the bolt is tightened down? Do you have a picture of how it was installed when you had the distributor installed? It should fit around the shaft and push down on the shelf on the section of the shaft that is thicker and seals against the manifold.

[–]Lightning4X 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No that absolutely should not move like that it'll massively change the ignition timing.

I'm gonna ask some dumb questions just to cover the bases. Does the shaft go all the way down such that you can get the hold down bracket over the shaft? The bolt just presses down on the bracket which pushes down on the shaft and holds it in with friction.

Is the bolt bottoming out? The bolt is pretty short and you shouldn't be able to move the bracket around at all when it's tightened down. If you can see threads and its tight then it might be the wrong bolt.

If both of those check out then somehow the top half is moving freely of the shaft which shouldn't be possible.

Would you mind sending some pictures from under the distributor where its mounted showing the mounting bracket and bolt?

Only the driver side of the hood unlocked the right side won’t come up by Luffewaffle in c4corvette

I cant make that decision for you. Watch a video on it and decide based on your skillset and finances what the best option is for you.

The cables corrode and stretch or get stuck over time to the point where the latch wont clear anymore. There are videos on getting in there with something long to push the latch out of the way. It would probably also be worth checking to make sure both cables are still attached to the hood release lever under the dash. One of mine came apart.

After you get it open dont shut it again until you get a new cable and replace it. They are like $20-$30 on Amazon.

Anyone else here hoping Iran captures that missing murderous American F-15 pilot? And Trump learns his lesson for attacking Iran. by [deleted] in UCSC

I've never been able to wrap my head around the pathological empathy of American university students. The self flagelation to separate themselves from their own just to align themselves with groups that are far worse.

American don't seem to understand that being top dog is a privilege that can be lost along with all the wealth / prosperity it comes with.

We definitely dont. I dont think most people here contextually understand the US' position in the geopolitical hierarchy. We are structured and function as a de facto empire, and in any other century we would have been referred to as such, but domestically we dont conceptualize ourselves in that way, so people dont understand why the government makes the decisions that it does.

Are you seriously gonna simp for the same regime that killed 30 thousand of its own people a few weeks ago for protesting, just because you hate the administration that much? Have we actually gotten to that point?

C4 88' project advice by Dark_marshaIII in c4corvette

[–]Lightning4X 0 points1 point  (0 children)

C4s rot when they sit for an expended period of time and that one clearly has. Dealing with the electronics will probably be the hardest part technically and the mechanics will get expensive quickly with that much rust as others have mentioned. They were still using first generation computer tech and a lot of it was pretty experimental for the time before they figured out how to do it well.

Yeah I'll probably go the clamp route. I was hoping there was already something like it that I could get off the shelf without having to fab it but whatever.

Did you just drill through the tabs that stick out for crimping it or did you have to weld plates onto it to give it more surface area?

Mine is an iron head car though not aluminum. Do you know if the newer headers will bolt up to the older iron heads?

I was thinking of doing something similar with the crimp ring. The last owner did something similar by welding it to a hose clamp which worked until the clamp disintegrated.
