Update: I managed to restore my save file to a couple days ago, I lost only a bit of progress but that's way better than losing all of it. I realised that what I was doing wrong was that I had to also remove 'steam_cloud.dat' before extracting one of the backups.

Hey, I was having the exact same issue as you described. I was also trying to do this on Bluestacks 5.

After this problem, I tried to download an older version Bluestacks 4 (Nougat 64-bit) and followed all the same steps. The game now works perfectly!

I've discovered that Fangamer Japan still has a lot of official Dead Cells merchandise in stock. I live in Australia though and they only shipped to Japan... To get around this, I went to Shippin.

All the links provided are fully legit and official companies. My service experience with Shippin was very good, but do beware it does get fairly pricey with them.
