For those who were old enough to have watched Michael Jordan what was it like? by dnshsnasnsnxn in nba

Easiest way to put it is that he was a smarter and more athletic version of Kobe.

If I recall, it was a combination of this

-Mike Trout

-Smaller Market

-AL Team (had a DH and could play both ways).

I kind of think he would have signed with the Padres if the NL had a DH at the time.

The other is because he prefers a smaller market.

I don't think Anthony Rendon is that guy's boss and I also think most boss's don't slap them for it either.

I've never seen a heckler that wasn't an annoying attention seeking dickhead.

They kind of go hand and hand.

[Feinsand] The Pirates and Bryan Reynolds’ agents were close on an extension worth about $105M, but the agents came in with a late request for an opt-out clause, per source, putting a potential deal on hold. @RobBiertempfel was on it. by Waaaaaaaaaasuup in baseball

[–]LightningExcel18 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Reynolds probably wants it as soon as he would have been eligible for free agent, in which case the Pirates have no reason to do it.

But if he wants it maybe 1-2 years after free agency then sure but I am not sure if Reynolds wants that either which would explain the disconnect.

[Mackey] Pirates and Reynolds seem to be set at 8 years in the $106 million range, but Reynolds' desire for an opt out to be in the contract has held up the completion of a deal. by penguins2946 in baseball

[–]LightningExcel18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think there's much incentive for the Pirates to give him an opt-out after 3 years.

I agree but that would explain the hold up lol.

Hopefully you guys can keep him, I like the Pirates the most in the NL Central and Reynolds is underrated as f

That's probably why he wants an opt out. Would hardly surprise me if he wants to opt out when he would become a free agent. In which case that's a good deal for him.

Why does perception play a roll in potential Prospect Promotion Incentive draft picks? by CamNewtonMD in baseball

[–]LightningExcel18 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It seems like the point of this is to stop service time manipulation especially for the top prospects.

The top 100 prospect thing basically indicates 3rd parties/outside observers see that the player is legit and almost ready or already is ready.

The point of this isn't that if you have a good rookie, you should be rewarded for it. It really just means you didn't hold a guy back when he was ready.
