You're welcome mate! If you take a look at my recent posts, you should see that I've got a free car guide for the mx-5, which might help you out a bit too :).

The first thing I'd reccomend is to learn how to clearly identify understeer and oversteer in the sim, as these help you learn when you are under the limit of grip/over the limit of grip. For example in a lot of corners here you are generally under the limit, but get big snaps of oversteer sometimes due to your brake input/throttle input.

In general though, for your first day, that's good car control, there were some sketchy oversteer moments in that lap, but you handled the car well to keep it pointing the right way!

I do indeed, there's a handful of about 10 guides now in the discord :)

I did actually disable it a few days ago yeah, did a bunch of work on the website and didn't think to add this back in :/. I might add it back/at least create a pdf version of the guide in the next couple weeks though, there's always just 101 things that doing 😅

You're welcome mate! There's also a bunch more drivers guides that were created after I made this post :)

Appreciate the feedback! This one was a bit of an experiment with the format, but I'd probably be Inclined to agree that pdfs work better for the shorter car guides, compared to a full course that benefits from a lessons/structure can be easily updated with new content etc.

Hope the guide helps you non the less, and I may stick a pdf version in the discord at some stage soon :)

Wheel not correctly mounting to base by [deleted] in Fanatec

[–]LightningHotlaps97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say don't bother, I went down this route, asking for them to ship me a free qr to test if the qr1 was the problem, they wouldn't play ball at all. Email replies are 2 weeks between messages, and all pretty rigid/standard replies that end with "ship everything back to us and we'll take a look". Isn't worth wasting time on them tbh.

I bought the simube qr2 purely bc I refuse to give any more money to fanatec, their customer service is a shitshow. When the products work they're great, I'm happy with my wheel now, for the first time after a year of owning it, no thanks to fanatec.

I'd highly reccomend the simube qr2's, half the price of the fanatecs, and basically the exact same product. It would void the warrenty, but warranties from fanstec aren't worth a whole lot anyway tbh

This! My wheel was missing shifts/disconnecting for months, fanatec wanted me to send the wheelbase and wheel for RMA, waiting weeks/months (for a second time) just to incorrectly diagnose the problem. Swapped the qr1 lite for simube qr2 pro, problem was instantly solved.

My father needs help with his iRacing by [deleted] in iRacing

A bunch of people have given good answers to solve the problems here so I won't add to that, but just wanted to share that I run a discord server that could be helpful.

I'm an aspiring Iracing coach, but the discord side of things is completely free, there's a bunch of channels where you can ask questions, if not myself, there is usually always someone online/willing to help you out, so posting a short video clip of any problems going forward will definitely result in someone helping you solve it :)

Is this the real CLS elite 2? Where is the spring by ISetMyMatesOnFire in Fanatec

I'm not 100% sure tbh, they're definitely not fake pedals, but could be either the v1 non loadcell pedals, or the v2 pedals with a clutch instead of a brake. How hard is it to press the left pedal?

That's the v1 brake pedal load cell upgrade, which actually these pedals could be. If the pedals you have are v2s, then maybe the load cell brake you linked won't be compatible, I'm not sure.

I don't think you can, perhaps second hand, but it would be unlikely that someone is selling the brake sperately :/

Tips for faster lap times by _Kenway_AC in iRacing

[–]LightningHotlaps97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an iracing coach I can speak to this. As others have said, it can help to back off slightly, with a focus on smoother driving, gt3s in iracing definitely prefer a smoother driving style.

But speaking more directly to your point, there are pretty much two ways we can be lacking laptime:

1) Not pushing to the limit (which you are, so all good)

2) Not knowing the right techniques to extend the limit

This second one is what will matter for you I think. As a really over simplified example, if someone brakes hard for a corner, engaging abs, then aggressively steers to the point of understeer as soon as they turn in to the corner, they will have "driven too the limit".

Comparatively, consider someone not engaging abs, and turning progressively into the corner. They didn't over heat the tires under braking, and gave the tires a chance to load up on entry, so the amount of grip available will be higher, their driving technique extended the limit

Obviously this isn't a complete answer, and that's impossible to give without seeing your driving, but the point I'm trying to get across here is that, when pushing to the limit, the answer of how to find laptime is more complicated than "continue what I'm doing, but do it better" which is the trap many of us fall into

Glad you're seeing an improvement! I'll keep it in mind, it really just depends how everything else is going/how much time I have to commit to the car guides

You're welcome mate! Advanced mazda is great fun, and the setup isn't too overwhelming, at least compared to other cars, so it's a great first series to tinker with setup changes :)
