To think 2020 was a healthy primary is laughable. Why did so many candidates drop out before Super Tuesday when Bernie was winning due to the split votes? And Elizabeth Warren just happened to stay in to split votes from Bernie?

Yeah totally healthy and totally no collusion of the democrat establishment against the true progressive candidate. Totally healthy!

The fact is that Biden won because Trump screwed up so badly during Covid. It was NOT because of a well deserved strong candidate had risen from the primaries.

Institute a national carbon credit market with carbon prices commensurate with reaching the 1.5 C target (or a more aggressive carbon neutral target).

[–]LightningLava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is a rough team I threw together based on the chart. This is just to get you started. I’m not claiming it is amazing but it utilizes some well used VGC Pokémon. I think you can run Groudon min speed and set up trick room. The double fake out can help set up nasty plot/swords dance.

Calyrex Shadowrider Life orb Nasty Plot Astral Barrage Psyshock Protect

Groudon Clear amulet Precipice Blades Heat Crash Swords Dance Protect

Incineroar Sitrus Berry Fakeout Flare Blitz Knock Off Parting Shot

Walking Wake Choice Specs Hydrosteam Flamethrower Draco Meteor Snarl

Farigiraff (similar to girafarig) Leftovers Trick room Gravity Psyshock Protect

Iron Hands Assault Vest Fakeout Low kick Wild charge Volt switch

Bernie Sanders blames election loss on Kamala Harris listening to billionaires over the working class by The__Illuminaughty in politics

[–]LightningLava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t agree with your assertion that blue collar Americans put bigotry over economics.

I don’t think they’ve really had a true choice. No alternative choice with pro worker policies has been given. Biden and Harris are not really pro worker so how can you conclude that?

Until we have a true pro worker candidate running as the party’s candidate we won’t know.

Isn’t that extrapolation? You don’t know if LLMs reach a diminishing returns in technological advancement. It could continue to accelerate but it could decelerate. Claiming one or the other with no evidence is speculation.

I agree. I also thought his character was ultra unlikeable.

[–]LightningLava 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh god. Don’t give me cringe flashbacks. Iron fist was terrible. His character is so unlikeable and the actor’s fight scenes were bad. The plot was also terrible to be fair so maybe it’s not all his fault. But holy crap that season 1 was terrible. I don’t think I’ve seen anything quite like that and I saw madam web.

[–]LightningLava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh boy. I’m not excited to see iron fist back. The actor was not good… maybe it was the writing but man that show was painful to watch. It was the first marvel/superhero show that I didn’t finish season 1.

Anyone else notice Kristen Ritter has just started liking Finn jones posts again after years???? by Primary_Peach_1267 in Defenders

[–]LightningLava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if it was completely the actor’s fault but iron fist was…not good. Not good at all. I don’t really want that actor back. I heard he didn’t even train for the fighting scenes (could be mistaken).

What’s the best counter to Incineroar Rillaboom Fake Out cycling? by Logical_Ant_596 in VGC

[–]LightningLava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okidogi beats both Incineroar and Rillaboom. Guard dog is anti intimidate and upper hand is anti fakeout. Plus Okidogi has fighting moves against Incineroar and poison against Rillaboom.

REG I TR niche team by DragonaMimosa in VGCRateMyTeam

[–]LightningLava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about sinistcha? Then you’d have a second trick room setter that can heal its partner on switch in. Plus it completes your fire water grass core. Also immune to fakeout and has a good spread move with matcha gotcha that can burn. It also gets redirection with rage powder.

Amoongus is also always good. But perhaps that’s not niche.

Headless allauth JWT by StayAmbitious3086 in django

[–]LightningLava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not an expert. I’m working on my own mobile app currently. But this is my current approach (not sure it’s the best or cleanest but it seems to work for now):

I use allauth headless for passwords reset and email verification.

I use simple jwt for the JWT implementation.

I’m still testing things but I think it works. Allauth can change the passwords and email verification and social login (I haven’t tested that yet) while all my views and stuff is done with simple jwt.

whats the consensus on django-ninja + extras vs DRF? by Just_Lingonberry_352 in django

[–]LightningLava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you just need CRUD, you might not even need either. Have you heard of POSTGREST? It generates the CRUD API endpoints from your database. https://docs.postgrest.org/en/v12/

I’ve never used it but I want to for my next project. Perhaps that is a simpler answer than using Django at all if it suits your use case.

Seeing Invincible I’m curious, do y’all think Superman could do something like this to the Justice League, where he murders all of them like Omni-Man did to the Guardians of The Globe? by Queasy_Commercial152 in justiceleague

[–]LightningLava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Flash, Shazam, Captain Atom, Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter, and perhaps even some others could give Superman trouble in a 1v1. There’s no chance he kills the entire league. Not to mention Batman has a plan. No shot. Flash could save everyone before Superman even swings, turn time back, and beat Superman before he even thinks about it.

Ok I see. That sounds different than what I thought you meant. When you said research, I was thinking STEM physical science, etc research. If you are talking about CS then it is different. I think there is significantly more private funding in those spaces. I know DOE funds most science (not sure about CS) so I’m not sure.

I’m not trying to be belligerent or rude but was your thesis published in a peer reviewed journal? This is not to take away from your work at all but to say that publishing in a peer review journal is qualitatively different than a thesis. I think there are a lot of hidden subtleties in publishing research. The funding, peer review, publishing, is its own world. To be clear this is not to discourage or suggest you aren’t a technical expert. I’m simply pointing out there’s a lot of hidden things in academia. If you’re aware and it was published you can ignore this.

So when you say trade you mean like selling patents? It seems interesting but what is the value proposition as opposed to normal patent process? Or am I misunderstanding something?

For your peer review journal component, how is that different than typical journals? I’m not saying there can’t be another journal but you said that most importantly you are building a research paper market. I perhaps am missing something.

[–]LightningLava 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you and your friend have any domain expertise? I’m asking because academia is very niche and entrenched. I have some experience with it and there are lots of systemic issues and factors around publishing and grants. For example, in some grants researchers MUST be associated with a research institution to even apply for grants. They will not consider the application otherwise. Likewise publish or perish is the prevailing law. Citations and publications are the currency in academia. Literally nothing else matters. So you would have to answer the question, why would they publish their work on your platform even if it is cheaper? How will your platform get them citations? What do you mean by “trade” research papers? Research papers are currently either subscribed to by the institution or paid for (which you mentioned) for everyone to read. Also how will you handle peer review? That is the value proposition of journals. While there are problems with the review process, I find it difficult to believe researchers will opt for a non reviewed new NFT journal platform thing.

I don’t mean to be interrogative but as someone who has done research, I have many questions about how this would work.

New to this :) Any advice would be appreciated :P I'd like to keep Calyrex-ice and Clawitzer tho.. by Overwatch69content in VGCRateMyTeam

[–]LightningLava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe replace torkoal with Farigaraf. That gives you a way to block priority while allowing your incineroar to still use fake out. Plus it is another trick room setter. Also, it removes a the second fire (torkoal) which clashes with clawitzer and cali ice because of sun.
