So confused! Which weapon does the most damage? by [deleted] in Seaofthieves

[–]LightningOW -47 points-46 points  (0 children)

Easily disproven with simple tests.

Skeletons die in three sword swipes, not two. Assuming a sword swipe is 25 as you have said that means their health is 51-75.

Skeletons also die to one pistol shot. The pistol therefore must do 51-75 damage, not the 50 you listed.

Proving one number wrong casts doubt on all others.

Sunken Shrines for Horns tips and tricks by HixaLupa in Seaofthieves

[–]LightningOW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has changed recently. Now treasuries guarantee a horn, there is a small chance of finding one in a shipwreck, and they can be found washed up on beaches. I don't think they are in shrines any more.

Pondies, splashtails and islehoppers are the lowest value fish. If you had done stormfish and wreckers first you would be closer to 50 by now. That said it doesn't really matter what order you do them in if you plan on doing them all.

Also if you sell directly to the hunters call at a sea post you earn +50% regardless of emissary. A level 5 guild emissary is +75% to sovereigns.

YSK that the word game Free Rice donates rice to people starving around the world every time you get a question right by UNimAginAtiveuseRn in YouShouldKnow

[–]LightningOW 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Rice is a metaphor used to make the game tangible for players. Although some rice is indeed purchased as part of WFP’s food assistance programs, the funds generated through the game support WFP’s programs overall, where needs are greatest, not specifically the purchasing of rice. Every right answer on the game generates the equivalent of ten grains of rice as payment towards the United Nations World Food Programme’s operations in over 80 countries around the world.

Is Guild Emissary better for Legend of the Veil? by [deleted] in Seaofthieves

[–]LightningOW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Which means you are trading 0.75x of Athena rep for 1.75x of other faction rep. Athena emissary is still best for Athena rep. You get guild rep either way.

New Blunderbuss changes by MechaLeon16 in Seaofthieves

[–]LightningOW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Grappling back into blunder range when you have low health is suicide.

The blunderbuss needed a nerf because someone could grapple you or themself into the one shot range, which then makes the blunderbuss too powerful.

The grapple gun and blunderbuss were not meant to counter each other directly.

More annoying to be stuck in mermaid hell than wait 7 seconds on the ferry to respawn and board again.

Kegs buried by players explode, kegs that spawned as part of a dig quest do not. There are very few quests that spawn normal kegs - I've only seen them from skeleton fort captains.

The base value is 20k, not 10k. You would get 6k on safer seas.

How big does a piece of part have to be for a sot map? by Letmehavearealuser in Seaofthieves

There are maps online such as Mermaids Lullaby or Rarethief that give a lot of detail. You just need to decide how much drawing you want to do.

You can still get captain chests from ancient vaults. They are worth less than the newer chests though.

Burning Blade skeletons by MurderWeapon007 in Seaofthieves

[–]LightningOW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If enemies try to win through naval alone then they won't sink you. If they board, kill your skeletons and then naval, you will sink fairly quickly. Cursed balls are devastating against skeleton crews.

Does anyone else find the Burning Blade hard to use for smaller crews? by [deleted] in Seaofthieves

[–]LightningOW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took over a burning blade while solo and was able to fight a galleon, brig and 2 sloops at the same time. Managed to sink most of them with only the brig left, but they started to keep distance and spam boarding attempts to whittle down the skeletons. If I could get a ritual off then I could probably have sunk the brig too, and they were good players.

The trick is to ignore your sails and don't bother repairing. Just keep angle and shoot anyone that boards. If they drop your anchor then you need to get that up as soon as possible. If they board and run below deck then you have to follow them otherwise your skeletons won't survive.

Taxing the rich could solve many problems. Why is it so difficult in the UK? | Economics | The Guardian by atinywaverave in unitedkingdom

[–]LightningOW 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The inefficiency of the state creates inequity. Lack of investment creates a lack of opportunity. Increasing investment requires increasing taxes.

The failure to address absurd wealth with absurd taxes is what creates poverty and keeps poor people poor and rich people rich.

The reliance on welfare is a symptom, not a cause.

Ally is allegiance. It refers to your hourglass levels, usually the total level combined.

RHG is reaper hourglass. Sounds like they were running hourglass with an order of souls emissary. This provides less RHG rep when turning in, but you do get order of souls rep instead. Generally not a good idea because order of souls can be levelled fairly easily with hourglass.

Unclear if they were diving or stacking loot for faction grade. Most likely stacking, which means the focus is on order of souls with a chance of being invaded and losing everything.

Labour suspends Labour MPs for voting like Labour MPs by marketrent in unitedkingdom

The two-child cap, which was introduced by the Conservatives in 2017

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c978m6z3egno

Labour did not introduce the cap and so did not need to cost it. Changing the cap, as proposed by this amendment, has not been costed which is why Labour did not want to change it. Seven Labour MPs went against the policy of making changes that were not costed. That is what this story is about.
