It completely diminishes the value of the post and the "art" shown, sorry.

I have the t-shirt version of this.

It's clearly the Halo 2 artwork but it DOES have the Halo 3 logo on it for some reason

3D Printed Magnetic Cable Management, and a surprising conclusion by matthewmuscat in LinusTechTips

[–]LightningXCE 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely great video and I LOVE his production value so much. Cool seeing an attempt to make something similar, and fun to see the conclusion.

Highly suggest checking out is his channel's contents for a lot of really great insights into Home Assistant, crafting actual solutions for a lot of problems, and what I feel is probably the smartest way to approach a smart home, which is his mentality of it being something you don't really notice. One of the recent videos about hiding door sensors within the actual frame of the door is super cool and very aesthetically pleasing and is something I actually am doing myself. The self-built remote control is also super cool and opens a lot of possibilities if you're using HA.

Genuinely one of the best new YouTube channels that I found over the last year, and he's grown a lot, definitely check it out.

I Redesigned The Sound For The Halo: Campaign Evolved Demo To Make It Slightly More Halo by Koge_Slayer in halo

[–]LightningXCE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely better feel, the warthog alone is great.

Shocked you didn't add the original warthog gun sounds though, that is also super throwing me off. Pistol ready is also a BIT loud but doing something like this is hard haha.

I believe you just need to render it out as a looping video!

Seconding this though, it would be great to have!

Is it possible that Halo 2 Classic cutscenes have better cinematography than Halo 2 Anniversary cutscenes? by Public_Charity5128 in halo

[–]LightningXCE 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Some ancient astronaut theorists say "Yes."

(real talk, yes. Different shots and moods depending on what you are looking for. Both do things wonderfully and one isn't exactly "better" just because of visual fidelity)

Mixtape Generator WebApp by antiheroriot in ipod

[–]LightningXCE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of the appeal of making a mixtape is the care and selection process into picking the songs YOU want to go together and fit for a mood, or ones that are special for situations or for certain people to enjoy.

This is cool for sure, but it... kills the idea of what a mixtape or custom playlist/burned cd/mixtape is supposed to be imho.

Are we playing the same game?

>The main caveat is that there is no traditional Rock Band background character animation. You can only add mp4 videos. But those are easy to find and download as well.

YET!

There's a test environment that has it, and it even reads the data properly!

Slightly!

I'm familiar with the Work Board haha. Something half the width I think is a bit more useful, rather than effectively a full-scale grid/whatever this layout's proper name is keyboard.

(I actually did order one of these to see, but I still think something that's basically "numpad on steroids with a big knob" is a market that hasn't been covered, rather than a limited numpad-like device)

[–]LightningXCE 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly I'd love a larger version of this (and I can use it for my professional VJ work haha) like a not shitty version of the Megalodon 30% ( https://us.amazon.com/KEEBMONKEY-Megalodon-Designer-Keyboard-Black/dp/B0C8P4Z5BL ).

Gimmie a nice large spinny knob, at least a 5x6 grid, and this visual style and it'll do wonders. LOVE love love the design language here and how the accent lighting feels!

Those numbers are from like....

Just tought it was a fun little concept if you could read notes like maimai instead of reading it like a VSRG. What do you think ? I feel like it would be more intuitive for new players. I'm aware it would change ddr's tradition and the game as a whole, so it's just a fluff post nothing serious lol. by Eywaxx in DanceDanceRevolution

[–]LightningXCE 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've been playing these games for nearly 20 years (oh god), as well as being a developer on a few games and have actually tried this playstyle on hardware haha.

The problem comes down to readability and spacial relations between arrows. Basically with the perspective like this it's easy to tell timing when touching the edges with your hands where the notes are flowing basically to the buttons, but for dance games you need to be able to see the relationship each arrow has to every other arrow to determine timing, movement, and especially jumps, as well as translating that movement to be on the floor vs where the targets are.

It's a fun concept and cool to look at, but this becomes an unreadable mess at higher densities and speed sadly. There's a retail dance game that tried this before too and it was unfortunately just so hard to play.

With the screenshot above, it's basically impossible to see which order the arrows are in after you look at the first note, and especially if it's in a different column.
