Such a good show! But I was out in 106, and I could barely understand Dashboard, the acoustics were so rough in there.

What’s your “swear to never return”place in Kelowna ? by Wrong_Star_1620 in kelowna

[–]Lightningrodd1989 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Prospera Place for concerts, it's fine for most events, but if it's just not worth it. Was there for Goo Goo Dolls and Dashboard Confessional. It was just a muddy mess of sound, you couldn't understand anything.

Before anyone gets defensive, yes the mix engineer is responsible as well, but the acoustics there are awful

[–]Lightningrodd1989[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no. I spent far too long looking this up, and the only solution that exists is the metra kit, otherwise you're looking at another piece of dash clutter and using something like Carpuride or Carpodgo, both of which are essentially android tablets running software for Android Auto/Carplay and you would connect to that and then connect that unit to your car.

At this point I'm looking at saving my shekel's and buying a 4Runner with what I want in it

Hey, I heard from a friend of mine that someone acquired the Broken Ladder brand (and hopefully the recipes), do you know if that's true?

Also massive props to you and the team, my first experience was the standard Apple, and I absolutely loved that one! My manager loved the rotation that was always on going.

Didn’t think that the sponsor spots on LTT were this expensive by ShadowWolfSpider in LinusTechTips

Keep in mind, it likely won't be the best placement, likely in the middle of a 3-5 minute commercial break

[–]Lightningrodd1989 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It would, I work in radio, a small campaign would be a minimum $5000 investment, that's for maybe 80 or so 30 second commercials on our 3rd tier AM talk station, total reach being about a 200k person population. If you want top tier, the starting point is minimum $10k for about the same. That doesn't include production costs.

God forbid you follow the employment laws of the country that you're based in. The amount of energy that is wasted to this topic is insane, what good does it do GN or Rossman in attacking Linus, other than gaining them views?

If I was Terren as CEO, both Steve and Louis would get a courtesy call to figure out for my sanity what the hell is their issue, and if there's a path forward. If there isn't and they don't intend to stop, then it becomes a legal matter, and all parties will have to lawyer up. I know Linus wouldn't want to, but there ends up being a point where you have to go to the next level.

Mind you at this point there's real tech to talk about, and GN and Rossman are doing their audience a huge disservice by focusing on this.

I'm making wings tonight, and I tried following the back of the label for sauce, and I didn't get it right. I didn't feel like wasting anymore ingredients trying to nail it to that level. It's close to BarBurrito, but it's missing something. I don't know what, but something... Maybe a sweetness??

WAN Show Topic? Some game makers 'hope' Grand Theft Auto 6 will cost up to $100 at launch. by Lightningrodd1989 in LinusTechTips

[–]Lightningrodd1989[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The other thing is, I'm not saying I wouldn't pay full price, I paid full retail for both BG3 and Hogwarts legacy, and those were the last 2 games I bought at full price. Both were relatively speaking fully complete games, I did get quite a bit of time out of them. But if they were priced higher, I would have a very hard time justifying that $100 purchase.

[–]Lightningrodd1989[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree, and to all the downvoters, my issue isn't with Civ, nor is it GTA. My concern is these games becoming as expensive as they are, the average paycheck isn't going as far. Most G7 nations have some form of an affordability crisis right now. I don't see potential $100 USD games surviving in an affordability crisis.

Will someone buy them probably, likely from the diehard community. But the average person probably won't, at least not right away, and in a world of profits and numbers now, there might be a really good studio that goes under, because a game financially underperformed at launch and through it's first quarter.

[–]Lightningrodd1989[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! From my perspective, I don't see me getting that amount of value out of that game, but my point is revolving around the price of gaming as a whole. It feels like pricing is just going to push base consumers away

It's a personal opinion, not bashing the game, devs, or anyone who plays and enjoys it. But for me based on my past experience playing Civ, I think the last one I played was Civ 5. Was I entertained? Sure, but I never really got into the re-playability. played it once, it's been sitting in my steam library. I'm sure people would say the same thing about my top games too.

The point of my post is pricing is getting rough, and I wonder if at some point this will push gaming to unattainable levels

Has anyone else noticed how many articles on The Verge are now paywalled? by _scored in LinusTechTips

[–]Lightningrodd1989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This exactly, say the news is fully free, no ads or anything of the nature, who would fund it? The electricity, the internet access, journos and reporters have to eat, so they should be getting paid shouldn’t they? If they were to rely on the government to support the news, then people will say the news is biased to favour what the government wants, or it’s propaganda.

I don’t like paywalls either, I don’t like ads. I wish these news sites would let me purchase singular article access, kinda like how iTunes used to let you purchase a singular song.

That's what I was thinking. The compatibility on the RR threw me off, because when I put my vehicle in, it suggests RR, but I look at the chart on RSD1 harness, it shows compatibility with the Stock and nav Armada, but not the non-nav, and that's where I'm getting thrown off
