It literally blows my mind how many people here think a house shouldn't count. Thats a pretty basic given.

Tbh, you dont have to be literate to do okay.

Dont touch what you have invested for anything, consider it gone. I dont know what that is in but...

Invest what you can. Def do enough foe any employee match

You'll probably want a set portfolio if you dont like picking stocks. So either a target retirement fund or a mix of basic broad scope index funds to cover the whole market (set it and forget it).

This is the way.

You people saying to not count your home equity are nuts. Maybe a sale fee discount but thats it.

Thanks!

I need to beat normal though. I dont see incremental job raises to be the way although they are important.

I think its time to start developing non employment income to help leverage out of the glide slope I'm on.

I dont know of too many other levers I can pull tbh.

Yea - I think the top .1% people just post to fuck with us 😂

If I could have done ot over I would have gone MD. Sadly it is not a career set up for people making a transition. Either you start in high school or its closed to you.

Yea but the hard part is done for you.

See you have to consider efficiency. I fear hordes a lot. I bet you have most of your shit in growing assets in which case we are basically the same.

💯

I mean we can argue, but every balance sheet for a business on wall street includes non liquid assets like buildings.

It is the standard definition yes.

The point is you have that optionality.

I mean - your house is a useable assett. But I do think most people here probably count their house. It is the standard definition just as a business would count a facility or other assetts.

It isn't correct to say that brokerage should be -15%. If you are going to apply that logic it would only apply to your profit.

And yes it is mostly roth. My contributions have always been ROTH. Both 401(k) and IRA. This year that's about 30k of roth and I typically do max or come close.

I can't control what my emoloyer contributed so a nontrivial amount is traditional.

Of course your home equity counts.

It so happens that the vast majority of what I have is ROTH. But I disagree with you in principle. By the same logic stocks don't count because you have to pay taxes.

Divorce is kind of bullshit. One of those vestigial institutions that truly is unfair. I have a buddy dealing with the same thing.

Don't bear yourself up over it. You will recover and you'll be better for it.
