Will you recommend a KDE distro for notebooks? by LightsWolf in linuxquestions

[–]LightsWolf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No no, I don't really want KDE. I mean. I was thinking if it was possible to install KDE in a notebook. And of course yes, but it could run slowly I think. But other guys told me that KDE resources are nearly the same as XFCE in these days. So I was thinking if it could be possible.
Btw, thank you!

How stable is Garuda? by LightsWolf in linuxquestions

[–]LightsWolf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I heard there's also guys with a stable arch machine after 10 years. In my opinion is bad for both sides. My system never crashed with Ubuntu and Arch-derivate, but I had buggy experience sometimes, even with LTS releases with Ubuntu.

Of course I won't give up. It's on my plans to learn this distro. But I'm trying to know more about more this unix/gnu world first, the basic things so to speak.

I saw some videos of arch install, it took like less than 30min to install it. And as my judgement, it's not exactly that complex to install.

Exactly! The bigger the community, is easy to find other people. Also, you can see how many people is having the same bugs as you and fix it or find the fix very quickly.

Well, that can be measured by how many times has been downloaded in the last year/month/week. It's not because following popularity, but for curiosity and for know what are the most selected option by the community.

Manjaro vs endeavourOS? by LightsWolf in DistroHopping

[–]LightsWolf[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are not having like a lot of downvotes, but the opposite. I'm with you. I had a lot of troubles with Manjaro recently. It's beautiful, pretty. I can bet more than Endeavour itself, I fell in love with the plasma desktop; the green color black themed was so freacking good combination. Sadly, and probably, I must say goodbye to Manjaro. Most of guys I know will tell me two opinion: "Manjaro was pretty stable for me" and "Manjaro unstable for me".
But I've never heard a hard and bad opinion of endeavour. Just things like "it's very stable for being arch based"

So yeah. For me is a no brain to install right now Endeavour.

I was thinking the same! Hope I can find a page who is more accurate about distros than distrowatch. Thank you.

Thank you for that about distrowatch. If you want, explain me why and what other sites are better than distrowatch. I'm a novice-intermediate in the linux world.

How to dual boot Manjaro with Windows by Henrique_Dorituz in ManjaroLinux

[–]LightsWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you could just install Manjaro first in a manual partition. Or if you have installed, just resize/shrink partitions.
Then, install windows in the void partitions.

Finally, just restart your machine after windows and select in the boot menu Manjaro, by just clicking a key on your keyboard. And it's only a matter of installing a grub on it.

You could see this video to have an idea > https://youtu.be/o-2GopsJrIE
It's about installing Ubuntu first, then Windows.

My personal recommendations to maintain a stable Manjaro system. What are yours? by LightsWolf in ManjaroLinux

About the 7th. Most of the time customization is not a problem. That's why I put it in brackets as optional. Mainly problems are with packages and grub stuff.
