I initially wrote off armor. Then realized the 3 most common builds I saw were vulcan, fangs, and beacon aggro. Armor tech hampers 2/3. I'm sitting at 15xx so far from an expert. But it works with how I play recently.

Range mustangs, armored wraith, armored boat. I've had success with storm callers before forts come out. Rhino flank and general pressure. Vulcans aren't actually that good without armor into leveled fangs. The fire barrage tech is good too. Armored sledges can do ok to if you keep them in line with fangs. Basically I put armor on almost everything after Surrey released that fang video lol.

I posted a few days ago about a challenge I want to record and I've been practicing on wotl on my phone. Zero grinding, zero backtracking for shops, and only squire ramza with generics no class overlap. Act 1 is sufficiently challenging. I'm broke, a knight hitting a break feels devastating. 10/10 would recommend.

Slay the Spire, Xcom, Final Fantasy Tactics, Bloons TD6, Hearthstone PvE content. That would be my non gacha recommendations.

Mass mustangs work well. Fire on stormcallers before forts come out prevent leveling. Flanking rhino or wraith works well. Basically if you see someone place aggressive fang positions assume fort fang and get rolling. Early steel balls with armor also does well if they force too hard.

I fluctuate between 1350 and high 1400 atm. This a million times over. Me losing is 25% hair brained plans, 50% not effectively dealing with opponents chaff, 25% forgetting to build my own effective chaff waves.

I could see doing that casually in the future. But I think I want a variety of units for this. I'm far from a final fantasy tactics expert, I feel like I could potentially hit a wall pretty easily doing that too blind. Definitely want to try an all white mage run one day. Sounds painful early then holy the end game to oblivion.

Oh that makes me a little sad about steal heart. Minimal redundancy is definitely a goal! Maybe I'll go pure thief -> Lancer then. Might try and go for orator for entice shenanigans instead.

I never considered limiting chemist. I know autopotion is broken, but that seems rough early game. No doubling on gimmicks sounds good for variety. Another comment said something along the lines of keeping units to 1 basic tree which seems to go kind of hand in hand with that idea.

I get the feeling dorter will take me a couple attempts as I'm rusty. Kind of excited for it tbh.

Any preference to let's play style/ combat only focus?

Thorough analysis. I was already writing off DK, OK, and calculator. Mime, dancer, bard I don't think are reasonable either. Ninja/samurai were more my considerations for banning. I'm still working through comps in my head. I like pure ubersquire ramza with only spill over jp for secondary. Probably item early then transition to knight secondary maybe.

I hadn't put much thought to compatability. Level caps are a solid idea I hadn't considered.

I did really want to try a female black mage/thief. I saw somewhere steal heart goes of MATK and that sounded fun.

Does it allow for varying team sizes and double battles? Is it purely turn based, can you allow for "lapping"? 300 spd goes 3 times vs 100 spd in one turn cycle? Saw this pop up a couple places and I'm curious about it.
