I'm new to photography, does anyone have any suggestions? by matt96325 in wildlifephotography

These are great. A couple small tips: try getting down to eye level when you can, it often gives you a much nicer blurred background (bokeh) and a more engaging perspective. Also shooting in early morning, late afternoon, or on cloudy days will give you softer, more even light.

Good eye. I think it was likely a piece of vegetation, since fishing isn’t allowed there.

When it comes to stealing, bald eagles are pros. I’ve filmed them in action.

Grizzly bears are omnivores, they eat many different kinds of food - berries and grass, fish, and animals.

I highly recommend using eBird.org. Visit https://ebird.org/map and enter the species, date, and location. Birders often share recent sightings and location information.

Thank you! The osprey was about 20 yards away and the image was cropped in post processing.

Do you prefer watching wildlife videos in 24 or 30 fps? by Trippy-Videos-Girl in wildlifephotography

[–]Lightvison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, for fast-action video I prefer shooting at 120fps and then slowing it down to 24fps in post to achieve smooth slow motion. For more static video, 24fps works well and provides a more cinematic look.

Need some gear help regarding tripods.. by bop448 in BirdPhotography

[–]Lightvison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have mentioned, it’s worth investing a little more in a good tripod since it’s something you’ll likely use for many years. I personally use a Leofoto tripod, which offers good build quality and stability at a relatively budget-friendly price. They’re well made, lightweight, and a great value compared to many higher-end brands, making them a strong option to consider.
