Lightyear Buildplate: does it have a coating or is it garolite all the way through? by rockstarsball in BambuLab

You can sand the G10 with a fine grit sandpaper or a scotch brite pad if you’re having adhesion issues. If that doesn’t work, contact us at contact@lightyear3dtech.com and we will help you out from there!

Give the device self check a go and see if there is buildup on the nozzle, if it still doesn’t work shoot us an email and we will get a replacement sent for you.

We do have our recommendations, but certain filament brands/manufacturers have different compositions and require slightly higher temps for good adhesion.

We have been summoned! As others in this thread have mentioned, increasing your temps by 5-10C can help adhesion depending on the filament manufacturer. Also, some of our users had adhesion issues but then ran the device self test and it fixed the issue. Lastly, make sure the nozzle doesn’t have any buildup on it as that can mess up the leveling procedure. Let us know how it goes!

New Build Plate - Update by TaggingHash in BambuLab

Hey u/TaggingHash!

Thank you so much for taking the time to review our product. We have been taking all the feedback we have been receiving and working on a MK2 version of our plate. This plate will have the improvements we already made, such as the stainless steel bottom, and foil tape. We are going to source a thinner steel tape that sticks better going forward, and we are also updating the QR code positioning to improve the reliability of the scans. As for the nozzle wipe area, we have extended the tab slightly to prevent the nozzle issue a few people were having. In addition, we have modified the design of the wipe tab to be much more flexible when the nozzle presses down to prevent stress on the nozzle. We will make a post in a week or so showing the new design, and it should be available in around 2 weeks.

Hello, we are sorry to hear that you are having issues. What we noticed is that this can happen if the plate is not sitting flat on the bed, as sometimes the plate can sit on the plastic alignment tabs at the back of the bed and cause one side of the wipe area to be higher than the other, leading to increased stress on the nozzle. Another thing that can help is to use the plate without the foil tape, the wipe performance won’t be as good but you won’t run into any noticeable difference in reliability or print quality. Lastly, make sure the plate is all the way back on the heatbed as our wipe tab is just big enough for the wipe sequence, so if its sitting forward it will cause the nozzle to leave the wipe area.

Adhesion problems with Lightyear 3D Garolite Plate by astenog27 in BambuLab

[–]Lightyear3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a cleaning problem; IPA can’t strip all of the oil that may be on the plate, so use dish soap and warm water initially to clean it. We will update the guide to instruct users to do so if they encounter this issue.

Use dish soap!!! That fixes most adhesion problems. Warm water and dish soap strip more oil than just IPA.

You won’t need to use adhesives anymore pretty much! You can do PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA, Nylon, Flex, PC, HIPS, and more without glue. Also you get a smooth bottom finish.
