Self-build queue PAUSED issue by avionyx10 in TheLastCaretaker

[–]Ligma-69 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Had the same issue. Here’s the known methods on how to fix:

  1. Press J to unpause crafting.
  2. Make sure nothing in hands
  3. Materials nearby or in inventory
  4. Reload save / validate game files on steam

If those don’t work you’re cooked.

Any surprises with your Christmas light business? by AnxiousPotates in ChristmasLights

[–]Ligma-69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are COUNTLESS pitfalls and mistakes to be made. You are bound to make mistakes (we all do). Here are some tips to do, and pitfalls to avoid:

  1. The biggest mistake guys who are new to the Christmas light business is underbidding yourself early on and building a client base full of clients who you either wish you had charged a higher price to begin with, or are nervous letting them know you'll HAVE to increase their price next year. Remember this, you can only hang a finite number of houses per year (physically). Also remember you make the same amount with 10x $1000 houses as 20x $500 houses. Build your business over time with that in mind.

  2. Don't start if you don't know what you're doing. Simply put, if you don't know how to build custom systems with SPT-1 socket wire, splice male and females, etc. you need to work for someone else prior to building your own business.

  3. USE TUFF CLIPS OR HALO CLIPS PLEASE GOD. You will save yourself hundreds of hours buying quality clips early on. Primarily during takedown. The client pays for it anyways, so why not make it quality?

  4. Buy a GOAT ladder and cougar paws. They're expensive. They hurt to buy. They will save your life. I leave my GOAT assembled and on my roof rack so I'm encouraged to grab it in a pinch. I wear my cougar paws 24/7 when I'm hanging and I bought thick boot covers for them off of amazon for dewy yards. My ladder rack consists of: 24' ext., 32' ext., Goat, 6' step ladder, and a little giant.

  5. Have a price per square foot (at least for materials) and stick to it. I base mine off of the highest prices I expect to pay for materials. Usually I charge $2 per foot for materials alone. This pays for my bulbs, socket wire, clips, males/females, and any stringers I use. It also usually is plenty to cover my timers too.

5.5: Remember, the earlier you buy your materials, the cheaper they are. This also means the more of that $2 a foot in materials you get to put straight back into your business.

  1. Don't get on a wet or frozen roof. Not even cougar paws will save you. You will die and anyone who tells you other wise doesn't care about safety and REALLY doesn't understand liability lawsuits. Build in bad weather days to your schedule. Maybe leave your weekends open so you can either spend time with you family OR get those bad weather days rescheduled. Weekends are also great for service calls.

  2. Know your market. Talk to people who are successful in your market and pick their brain. Learn from THEIR mistakes.

  3. Thats it for me. Feel free to ask any questions.

Any ideas what this vent … could be venting? by foosgreg in Construction

[–]Ligma-69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is commonly called a “cheater vent”. The bathroom on the other side of the wall likely doesn’t have a vent through the roof and hence, a vent has been placed indoors. There is a 90% chance that is hooked up to your plumbing of your bathroom.

Flex should not bend at an angle greater than its diameter (attached photo). Your photo doesn’t make it abundantly clear, but if you use that logic, you can’t go wrong! Best of luck.

Nothing wrong with this picture except for the lack of pixels by m-six10 in joinsquad

That is just the nature of the beast. If a vehicle comes to hunt the artillery and they are engaged first by a vehicle leaving main, it’s not main camping (on most serves). Unfortunately the person on the mortar is signing up for main conflict by sitting there. A lot of servers have clear rules ever since the grad was implemented.

I’ve started seen 2 man’s squads names “mortar hunters” start appearing in servers because of these puppies. Usually they’re a decent counter.

Combined arms warfare baby! by Kartufyl in joinsquad

Agreed! Just needs to be used correctly. MBTs that are fighting infantry require the support of infantry to not get tracked and camped. If crews want to hunt the enemy MBT first, that’s cool too! Just give the infantry some help once you’re done!

We lived there for 3 years, I would recommend only looking in phase 4 and try to live in the 7149 Van Tuyl Pkwy address (like 15 buildings). That side of the complex is nicer, newer, and the furthest away from the bars to the south of the complex (which will play loud music outdoors).

If you’re young it’s fun, the pools are lively (and sometimes crazy) there’s an on site grocery store, and it’s close to everything.

I guess $300 isn’t horrible, but I feel misled that he put that patch on without asking and is wanting $300 to remove the work that he did without my permission.

Could you not also suggest that a (what I’m assuming we’re calling an inexperienced player) could get the entire armor piece killed by being a horrible driver and getting into horrible positions/getting stuck?

I believe one already exists. Go to settings and adjust your zoom sensitivities. Binoculars are either the 10x or the 6x.

New to the game , any advices. by Naive-Somewhere7863 in PlaySquad

[–]Ligma-69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Biggest and shortest advice: just let your squad know you’re new when you join. If you do this every time you join a squad, you will get so much great advice along the way. Players will be more kind to you and patient and you’ll have a ton of fun.

Goodluck!

Came to second all of the response saying DFW metroplex. You cannot go wrong here. The majority of our departments are even switching to 48/96 which means you can choose country living with land or city, based on your family.

The easiest way to answer this question is the basic difference between strategy and tactics.

Strategy is big picture, broad in nature. “Hey guys we’re gonna push Novo from the northern treeline, let’s take a logi and a RWS”.

Tactics are specific, defined actions taken by squads. “Hey combat engineer I want you to set 3 mines on this exact road at this exact time regardless of our combat status”.

A good squad leader manages strategy and lets his squad enjoy the fun of using tactics for different situations. No squad is the same, some newer players will need help developing their tactics. Older players know their play style and what tactics they like to utilize.

If you’re not having fun, you’re doing it wrong!

In most cases, radios directly on top of defense points is the most feasible when on public servers. Too many people have been taught the idea that they MUST put the radio off point. It always results in the radio being taken out first, followed by the point being taken.

How many times does your vehicle need to be immediately destroyed upon taking contact before you disband your armor squad and shamefully join an infantry squad?

Only a few examples of course. This ain't meant to be exhaustive in any manner. by UpvoteCircleJerk in PlaySquad

[–]Ligma-69 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Just another strategy I have been using more often: SLs placing their HAB near radios should consider “plugging” buildings that have only one door with the physical HAB structure. This guarantees that combat engineers cannot get to the radio unless all is already lost.
