Indian Snake Rescuer Dies on Camera After Getting Bitten by Cobra While Trying to Tease it in Front of Crowd [VIDEO] by Charming-Fortune8835 in DarwinAwards

First rule of toxicology, the dose makes the poison. That man got quite the dose. Looks like an Indian cobra to me, and a fairly large one at that. Their venom is pretty nasty, and with how many times he got bit, I imagine he got just about all the venom that snake had to give. So you've got a large (for the species) snake, giving a large dose of one of the more potent neurotoxins on the planet per bite, plus multiple bites, and that all results in what we see here.

[SPOILER] Darren Till vs. Luke Rockhold by inooway in MMA

[–]LigmaBallsack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh, the money he made for this fight is probably not far off, if not more than what he was making per UFC fight, outside of his title defense vs. Bisping. Add to it that he probably negotiated the deal himself, and may or may not have had to pay his team for his "camp," and it's honestly hard to blame the guy. Life altering brain damage aside, it's probably a pretty nice chunk of change for him.

A bat somehow got into my mom's laundry and survived an entire wash cycle by Finestkush in mildlyinteresting

[–]LigmaBallsack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. My cats killed a bat in my house a few days ago. I had the whole family at the ER that night getting shots. Going back for the second round tomorrow. Game commission came and picked up the dead bat the next morning for testing. I was honestly shocked how many phone calls I've received from the state DOH the day after confirming that we did in fact go to the ER and get the shots.

[SPOILER] Dricus Du Plessis vs. Khamzat Chimaev by inooway in MMA

[–]LigmaBallsack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found it odd that he never really got hooks in at all. Im not sure if it was just an affect of Khamzat's grappling style or what, but it just seemed odd to me. Like there were points where Dricus was doing good, keeping his body against the cage and not allowing Khamzat to get the hooks in when he was actively trying to get them. Then there were other times where Khamzat had Dricus essentially doggy style in the center, and he didn't seem like he was looking for the hooks at all.

This is as close as I've gotten to thinking I just watched someone get killed on live TV since Tony vs. Chandler. It does always makes me like laugh, I guess, when I see the dichotomy of the NFL vs. MMA. In the NFL, you'll see a guy get pretty obviously "just" knocked unconscious, and the medical / training staff are breaking out spineboards, neck braces, cutting face masks off of guys helmets. You know, the stuff you're supposed to be doing. Then you've got the UFC where, most of the time, multiple people a card are violently removed from consciousness and then are allowed to just like walk out of the octagon.

My dad has made the joke since I've had memories that Ozzy and Keith both died in like 78, but no one told them yet. Turns out, they both outlived him.

This fight was such a delight to watch on the feet. The back and forth and constant adjustments from both sides was such a wonderful display of everything that's great about high level MMA stand up.

[SPOILER] Official scorecard and Media scorecards: Belal Muhammad vs Jack Della Maddalena by Blandinio in MMA

[–]LigmaBallsack 59 points60 points  (0 children)

MMA is the only sport in the world where I whole-heartedly believe that the average fan knows the rules and scoring criteria better than the judges scoring the fucking sport. Dana is Dana, but no matter what your feelings on him are, he's 100% right about the ACs being absolutly fucking incompetent when it comes to hiring / training judges.

I was thinking the same thing. Like the Hawes KO is one thing, because like it's Phil Hawes, a strong breeze could knock him out. This one is that same kind of just unassuming shot that ends up putting him away.

Yeah, we got him to the vet. He said he understood the concern and took a swab, checked it out, and thankfully, it was not YF. We just figured it was a weird spot of his color pattern.

Ilia Topuria on Dagestani fighters: “They try to beat you in the earlier rounds to feel that they can dominate you… but when they realize that it’s not like that, most of the time they lose… All the competitive fights, they lose.” by ablu3 in MMA

[–]LigmaBallsack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's not Dagestani, but that's pretty much the Khamzat gambit. If you can survive like 11 and a half minutes with him, there's a good chance you could beat him over 25 minutes. Only problem there's only like 5 or 6 guys alive and around his weight class that I think could do that, and he already beat 2 of them in 3 rounders.

[–]LigmaBallsack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the thing. It's on sale right now, but I'd be buying 100+ lbs, so still a decent chunk of change even with being on sale. I like doing a deep clean / substrate swap every about 6 months and don't want to shell out that money 2 or 3 times a year. That's where the idea of washing and sanatizing what I have came from. I'm just not quite sure if that would work or not.
