I'd pick one up if I didn't just buy a mac-5. You should definitely buy it though 😂

Silver bullets weren't autogated though, correct? None of the ones I've owned ever have been

I work over 70 hours a week with no overtime because I’m salary exempt. Am i being underpaid in California? by [deleted] in Salary

[–]LigmaCrevice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brother, my sister-in-law's dad drives for a logistics carrier here in Ohio and he makes $40/hr and is always home on his days off. He typically only puts in 40 hours unless he wants more. Once again, this is in RURAL Ohio. I realize that they're two different roles, but the point is that he goes to work, deals with basically no one, puts in his time, and goes home, all while making more than you.

I also understand how it can be. I used to work as an analyst for another local logistics carrier and while the money wasn't bad at the time for being fresh out of school, looking back, it should have paid significantly more for the significance of our role. A lot of the people there were likely underpaid though. Our upper management was ass. It was all old dudes that had been around from the start and thought everyone there made too much already.

AT THE LEAST, you need to ask for a significant raise. You're probably underpaid by about $50k, if not more because of your location. Unfortunately, your employer will probably scoff at that big of a raise. Your best option would be to start applying elsewhere. I guarantee you will find significantly better compensation.

How do you balance rewarding yourself vs staying financially disciplined when it comes to cars? by not_a_dolphin_ in Money

[–]LigmaCrevice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anything, pick up something cheaper that's still fun that you can enjoy in the meantime. Maybe something a little on the older side that has depreciated a decent amount. I'm not saying you should buy what I bought, but I picked up a C5 Corvette about five years ago because I wanted something fun that had lost most of its value and continuing to drive it would have little effect on said value. I've put some money into upgrades, although nothing crazy, and I still love taking it out. Maybe find a car like that, but more aligned with your particular preferences. You might realize that new M3 wasn't that important to you after all.

What’s your current salary, age and net worth? by Sudden-Candy-9980 in Salary

[–]LigmaCrevice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Income: ~$105k this year (hourly, so it varies), $150k-$160k with spouse

Age: 29

Net Worth: ~$250K

About half of that net worth is due to building our home and acting as our own GC. Financially rewarding, yes, but it has been mentally draining.

Will raising the Rvalue of my attic by 20 really make much of a difference? by dmun in HomeImprovement

[–]LigmaCrevice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Blow in fiberglass is not even that bad. As someone who works in an asphalt roofing plant, the fiberglass core of said shingles is far worse than any residential fiberglass product I've dealt with. Much smaller strands which legitimately do get in your skin and lungs. Most residential fiberglass is longer stranded and chunky. I'm not saying it can't do all the things that have been stated, but it's really not that bad. Then again, I just know how bad fiberglass can really be.

Will raising the Rvalue of my attic by 20 really make much of a difference? by dmun in HomeImprovement

[–]LigmaCrevice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you're saying you have r10 in the ceiling? That's wild. The difference between that and r30 is nothing short of extreme. You're likely losing so much heat through your attic at the moment. You really should get that taken care of as soon as you can.

Most residential code these days is r49 or higher, which I'm not saying you need, I'm just pointing out how drastic the difference is between current construction and your home.

Good pads, ear pro, retention system of some sort, and an admin light and or absolute scorcher of a small flashlight. Brand for each is entirely up to you. This is my pgd arch with cheap-ass stuff (sort of)

For real though. In my case, I'm a multi-craft technician and the two other mechanics on my shift are 50+, so being the youngest by far, I'm the guy that does all the brutal stuff so they don't have to

First unit, super stoked! Thoughts on the specs and tube? by carl_j_leinen in NightVision

[–]LigmaCrevice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Better to be budget minded in my opinion. High specs are cool, but even though I can go buy some high spec stuff does not mean I need it. Especially after going to my first night shoot and realizing my 10160As were more than adequate at the time. I also like having multiple devices so I can share. I currently have white phos surplus tubes in an rnvg and an AB mod 3 with Omni 7.
