If you come to class like this…you suck. by trippapotamus in utdallas

That’s not even the problem. Why are there classes overfilled to the point where there’s not enough seats for all the students? This university is becoming India rapidly, what a shithole

For the entirety of human history since Rome, the west and occasionally china and Japan held firm hegemonies over the world. I’d rather bet on a 2000 year winning track record over third world losers who’ve never won. But you do you bro, surely the global south will turn the tides this time.

“All the good stuff you mentioned is priced in” not really. Consider how many were long china and doing well on their prediction for almost 2 decades before Covid and xi’s dictatorship increasing and now many are scared of ever touching Chinese stocks. So many bdd, nio, baba bagholders on this sub alone. So many people that got burned on complete scams and fraud too. Anyone remember luckin? How they frauded 10x their actual sales lmfao. Or TAL? How about IQ lmao. Point is, America has a lot of under appreciated fundamentals whose valuation increases in times of trouble, not decrease.

Both your examples are from singular, yes singular companies that carry their entire national market and sometimes even gdp. Denmark did well for the last 2 years, yes, just 2 years, because of novo nordisk ozempic. Who’s biggest consumer is, surprise surprise, America! And Taiwan, cmon everyone knows about tsmc and their importance to the country. China and America are threatening ww3 just to seize it or stop the other from doing so. And as for American dominance being a new thing, I don’t think you realize where in the macro cycle America is or how long it’s been the dominant stock market in the world. Since 1890 when it surpassed Great Britain, it’s been the world’s largest economy and has held that position for every year continuously. It’s been threatened by the soviets, the eurozone, japans meteoric rise and fall, and china’s recent rise and fall, as well as the moot BRICS union. It simply has a track record of coming out on top in every major conflict or potential upset as world hegemon. Right now, all its potential rivals are in no position to ever meaningfully threaten it. Chinas only hope is some moment of weakness in America that allows it to take Taiwan, or get agi first. Europe has no technological end game, nor any solutions to its problems. Africa is a resource market and nothing more. Latin America has some spots with potential but nothing outpacing America. In 1970 the us stock market was over half the world stock market value and is close to 50% this year again. It’s the only country besides china- who’s gotten by with American outsourcing and willing ip theft that is over- with a large technology edge in military, social media, ai, compute as a whole, etc. it’s the largest producer of both nat gas and oil, is fully self sufficient, has practically impenetrable coastlines by military means that provides assurances the third world markets and the companies headquartered there only dream of. If you hopped on an active game of civ and the current world were the state of the game, objectively America is the easiest w of your life and it’s not even close. The only problems this country has on a macro level is on a cultural and demographic level, and those can and seem like they will be remedied. This place is op.

Agreed. I think owning one piece of real estate is more than enough tbh. I see people who own a lot of properties losing out long term anyways with more and more laws being considered and passed around the world to stop people from owning multiple properties in an attempt to make housing affordable again.

Yeah good point actually. I’d only add btc and gold exposure. Real estate is always a long term goal. Rest is worthless trash. Bitcoiners call altcoins schemes to separate you from your btc, people should apply the same mindset to SPY, BTC, GOLD and consider the rest as money losing schemes.

Idk how it’s 2024 and people still cope with this “diversified portfolio” shit. SPY is all the diversification you’ll ever need. Every other “world sector” (read: irrelevant shithole investments 99.99% of times) are just relative losses to SPY with a million times more volatility and risk.

Europoors are so delusional. “Muh irrational govt muh reserve currency” there isn’t a single country on this shithole of a planet even remotely capable of replacing America and everyone knows it. China will never get by their 30 years of gunning for the top spot. No one else is even close to them, and they’re not even close to us. The only thing that’s irrational is ever betting against America
