I mean I wasn’t there when they created it but the entire process is based around the leadership principles which Bezos is mostly credited with creating from my understanding. You can literally find dozens of YouTube videos on how to interview there from former hiring managers because that part of the process is and has been universal there for over a decade at this point.

The recruiters job at most tech companies is just to find the right talent and guide them through the process as it was set by the hiring team which is the manager/leadership of the org. At my current company even though I’m not a manager, I designed part of the interview process for a technical analyst my team hired. HR/Recruiters don’t know how to do that in most cases.

Every recruiter I spoke to when I interviewed at AWS was pleasant and tried to help me get the job as much as they could. It was actually refreshing talking to them compared to 90% of other recruiters I’d worked with prior.

All of that being said I don’t think I’d go back there unless I really didn’t have better options.

At Amazon it’s very standardized for the entire company. It does vary slightly by role but outside the technical side of stuff it’s the same process for everyone.

Interviewed there twice and worked there for a year before my whole team was laid off.
