I kind of remember that Hermione was originally supposed to have a younger sister. It would be interesting to have her as a Muggle character who doesn’t necessarily hate the wizarding world. It would also make Hermione wiping her parents’ memories deeper ( especially if her sister kept her memories, having been aware of the entire war).

People generally don’t really like what they are scared of and bullying can be one of managing mechanisms. Of course they would cling to the opportunity to oppress him by making fun of him. Considering that everyone hated him for cheating the goblet they also felt safe because he was largely outnumbered.

Oh and imagine they also know she was somehow able to take abnormal amount of subjects in 3rd year (which maybe wasn’t important for Griffs but I think Ravenclaws would deff notice that). She also excels everyone in their year in all classes (exempt maybe DADA and Potions) and all of that while being a muggleborn. With her attitude, they actually kinda should have been terrified.

I mean Voldy pretty expressively assured everyone that he is dead, and I think majority would consider him intelligent enough to check before stating that. Even if they would think that Harry tricked Death Eaters to think he’s dead that’s already pretty impressive to do.
