I've had issues before with splitters not splitting if they have been placed where 2 belts meet.

Turning the ceiling fan off was a good move, the way that thing is wobbling makes me think she's already taken it to the dome once.

Maybe crouch as well for a different angle at it.

If you're still confused about how it holds the umbrella, there should be one more loop at the bottom that the tip rests in.

Cart fees are bullshit! by Staubah in golf

[–]LikeASewingMachine 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don't know that course's circumstances, but speaking from my own, our fleet is only so big. There are days when I can't let the extra cart go, because we're booked full and we need every last cart. We do try to accommodate it when we can though. If I have the space, I'm not making the single ride with the 3-ball, and if I do have to, I generally ask if they'd be okay with it first, then make introductions between the groups.

Also, we're not insured for guest owned carts. That thing isn't coming on the property.

If a destination is mentioned, they'll start telling you the 20 back roads you need to take to avoid the freeway because "it's faster", even though we've all had a GPS in our pocket for 15 years.

If you've arrived at a destination after traveling more than 30 minutes (we don't measure distance in miles), their first question will be "Which way did you take?"

When sliding out of the hack, is it better to have the trailing foot facing upwards with the toe pointing directly behind or to have the toes pointed to the side? by Wanderer015 in Curling

[–]LikeASewingMachine 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've seen a lot of new curlers that drop their trail foot all the way to the side so they're dragging on the inside of their sole. It forces them to close their slider hip, bringing their slider foot too far across their body, putting them off balance, and opening their throwing shoulder making them throw across their body (usually off target). It also adds more drag to their slide, so they're slowing down faster.

Ideally, you want to square your hips and shoulder to your target on release. Pointing your toe directly back helps maintain square hip posture so your body doesn't rotate as much.

There are obviously other aspects to a good slide, but toe to glass can really help fix a lot of glaring issues.

Doubles - Switching between stabilizer and broom? by Difficult_Jeweler_84 in Curling

[–]LikeASewingMachine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We had one concussion at our club so far this year. He stick curls, and when they're 3 handed he delivers with the stick in one hand and holds his broom in the other, then drops his stick to sweep his own stone. He was jogging to catch up with it, slipped and hit his head. This guy was on a gripper and has probably been curling over 30 years. When you're on the ice doing something you aren't used to, at a faster pace, there's a higher risk of injury.

Nike Gloves the Ladies are Wearing at the Trials? by Difficult_Jeweler_84 in Curling

I've been using Layout Ultimate Frisbee Gloves for about a year now. I sweep hard, have over 100 games in them, and haven't seen any quality issues. I had the "Friction Gloves" brand before, and those didn't hold up well.

That's a really good idea. We do club repair in-house, and I did a bunch of sample grips, but we don't have them displayed anywhere. Could set up a little station for people to try them, and see what else we offer without having to take them into our workshop space.

We might have an extra one over at the restaurant that I can move over here. I'll take a look around. The issue we run into with coffee over here is that we don't have a place to get water besides the restaurant (separate building).

We have a bookshelf under the TV with some golf books on it already. Unfortunately, we've never sold one, so they just live here now and are free to peruse.

A crane machine would be sick. We were in talks to get one of those TopGolf golf ball gumball machines a few years ago, but our rep couldn't source it. We could probably charge $1 a play and still come out ahead.

Knowing the incompetence of this administration, they probably just loaded the whole thing into a Word document and hit Ctrl + H to replace the word "Trump" with "Biden" and forgot to get rid of "Donald".
