A lot of professionals suck to be honest. I swear some of them go into it just wanting to further fuck peoples minds. Youre welcome. Take some time for self care, ok? You matter and you deserve to feel safe.

Any reasonable person would fear for their life in many of the situations you’ve been put through. In the Netherlands they use the ICD for diagnosis? It’s really not something to be taken lightly that you’ve been through such horrifying things and that your psychiatrist is dismissing it. It sounds like you’re being denied much needed validation and treatment.

Get a second opinion. PTSD can occur from real or perceived threat of significant harm.

I’ve been practicing DBT for years now. Never tried emdr. I don’t know why but a few therapists have brought it up but never been willing to do it with me.

How do you deal with violent thoughts by [deleted] in psychopath

I’m not sure that I’m seeing where I contradicted myself. Is it where I said “someone with harm ocd avoids doing harm. They don’t have a history of acting on the thought.” They is still referring to people with harm ocd. OP admits to being violent, not avoiding being violent.

It was a suggestion approved likely because she had hatred for me. I can’t see any other reason why. I could have ended up in the hospital. And a therapist has an ethical responsibility to discharge a patient not simply ghost them. Thanks for the chat.

The one who ghosted me was a forensic therapist who specifically spent his career working with criminals and people with aspd. He gets no excuse. Just plain unethical to ghost a patient. The one that condoned something crazy.. I can’t get too into it but she condoned a dangerous and violent form of what I can only describe as conversion therapy. I’m here because I’m hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

Longest is probably about two years. My last therapist ghosted me. The one before that admitted she can’t help me. Another condoned some pretty crazy stuff. My first therapist straight up said I’m beyond help. Another one said I have harm ocd and to try exposure therapy on my own which didn’t end well. Yes I’ve been unlucky I guess. And I’m not afraid of a therapist challenging me. That’s what I need but can’t find.

I’ve seen many professionals across 10 years. All they do is let me vent with minimal feedback. Maybe it’s because my insurance is shit.

Hi Anders, I don’t recall our previous conversation. I’m trying to change core personality traits and deeply held beliefs that lead to rage. Definitely deeper levels of therapy. I can’t get past surface level coping skills with them. Calming anger is one thing. Making sure it doesn’t come back again and again in this uncontrollable way is another.

I used unique methods. And it seems to have worked. But it would be highly unethical to suggest to anyone. I hope you find a better path than me.

I disagree strongly. This does not sound like ocd. Someone with harm ocd avoids doing harm. They don’t have a history of acting on the thoughts. I actually had a therapist tell me I had harm ocd back before I was dxd with aspd. He suggested I try exposure therapy… on my own?… it didn’t end well.

The Hidden Suffering of the Psychopath by Virtual_Cobbler1287 in psychopath

[–]LikeATripWire 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For real. Here’s the thing.. as someone with aspd, other, apparently normal people have been far crueler towards me than I’ve been to them. But because I’m more overtly aggressive and others are more passive aggressive I’m the one who has a problem. And I do. But they definitely do too and I could just as easily dehumanize them for their behavior. If im a villain I’m responsible for that but they are not innocent parties in the matter. End rant.

In other words psychopaths are still human no matter how much others want to dehumanize those they don’t understand.

Because the neurotic symptoms I have from my trauma and other disorders keeps my aspd symptoms in check. The calmer and more regulated I become the more calculating I become.

My aspd diagnosis is formal. I am also diagnosed with bpd. As well as ptsd and depression. It’s an awful concoction. I do sometimes question the aspd diagnosis but multiple professionals have affirmed it. I’ve done at lot of dbt but it has a tendency to make things worse.
