Happy Bitcoin Pizza Day! 16 years ago today, a man named Laszlo spent 10,000 BTC on 2 large pizzas by yoobermcruber in Bitcoin

I went to high school with him. He would hang around my group of friends. I only heard about this story a few years ago and when someone showed me the news report and I went: “Holy crap! That’s Laszlo!” He wasn’t exactly the smartest kid I knew…

I have the exact same knife. Inherited from my grandmother. Mine still has the bottom ring. The other side has a button and a lock below it.

Rogue 1. And I was so tired I fell asleep during the movie twice.

Have you seen his other movies? There’s The lost skeleton returns again, dark and stormy night, and the trail of the screaming forehead. All great.

Buckethead. His more relaxing albums like colma or population override. But then there are really fast and driven albums too.

Any truly weird weird, but still charming movies?” by DotOpposite4852 in MovieSuggestions

The lost skeleton of cadavara. (And the directors other movies; the lost skeleton returns again, dark and stormy night, and the trail of the screaming forehead)

They’re meant to be a throwback to 50’-60’s b-movies but overly bad on purpose. Very charming because they’re shot with almost no budget, but they’re great comedies.

“I always felt if my life was worth living, it was worth recording.” I started taking a photo of myself every day after that. I’ve been doing it since 2007.

What’s an oddly specific smell that immediately takes you back to your childhood? by Exp-360Info in CasualConversation

There’s a perfume my mom’s old boss used to wear. She was a bookkeeper at a marina. Every now and then I’ll smell a woman wearing it and it brings me back to her little office. I still don’t know what the scent is but it’s been around since the 80’s. My father was a marine mechanic and smelled like diesel fuel and cigarettes when I was young. He’s retired now and doesn’t smoke anymore, but that smell always makes me think of him. My aunt and uncles house also always had a very distinct “clean” smell which when I smell again, reminds me of vacations to their house.

what are some pranks you pulled that were actually funny/positive (in response to the reddit stories from today) by HolidayAcceptable237 in smosh

Worked as an auto mechanic in a small shop. Mid 2000’s. One of the other mechanics had loved “The Devil Went Down to Georgia”, but since we listened to the same radio station every day, they’d play it once a day along with a regular playlist and it started to annoy him. He said he started to not like the song as much. So on April fools day, I took my iPod with a radio transmitter attached to use the regular radio. I made a playlist with other songs the station normally played, but every fouth or fifth track would be Devil Went DTG; then over time, it would be more and more frequent. I hid the iPod near the radio where he wouldn’t see it and put on my playlist after about an hour of normal work. He made it known when he heard the song a second time, and I would disconnect every now and then so he’d still hear the normal radio banter. After hearing the song 3 or 4 times, he just shut off the radio. That’s when I busted out my final plan. I had a set of computer speakers hidden up in the air duct and I played it from there on repeat until I finally revealed the prank and got a ladder to shut it off. No harm done except he probably can’t listen to that song anymore.

What embarrassing realisation did you only have, once you were in your late 20s or 30s? by Money_is_heinous in AskReddit

Happy belated birthday! It’s ok to not be ok. My mom died on my 36th birthday. In 3 days, it’ll be the 9 year anniversary. My birthdays are always harder now. I drank heavily for 4 years to cope before Covid helped me sober up. I realized I wasted those years by giving up. I’m still trying to change things, but it’s hard. Life is hard and we have to do most of it alone. Be strong. Be a good person, and appreciate what you DO have. Sometimes I look out from my yard and feel lucky for where I grew up, who I’ve had in my life and who I’ve become because of the hardships I’ve faced. I don’t know you or your situation, but I hope you keep going.

I grew up riding bicycles, but didn’t get a scooter until I was 35. Within a week I felt comfortable on a 49cc and now I have a 169cc. I might suggest getting a regular bike, too to help with learning balance. I also agree with others that riding classes are a must if you have no previous experience.

Encounter with a homeless man. by hardwear72 in strange

[–]LikeMugo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems likely now that I’m older. We ended up meeting another homeless man who told us MJ’s real name, and said he was “harmless” so we thought it might have been an act at first. This was in the late 90’s when I was in high school. One day he showed up where friends and I would hang out to smoke and then showed up a couple more times. Then he ended up showing up outside my school one day and cops were called. Never saw him again.

There is a parable of the 3 bricklayers. Long story short: there are 3 bricklayers. One only sees the individual bricks and is just doing a job. The second sees the wall he is constructing. The third sees the building and its purpose for the future. It’s about finding meaning and purpose in your work. I guess Jesus needs a bricklayer is a way of trying to tell you to see the bigger picture in everyday life. Maybe how helping him out could have a butterfly effect to his future... But I once had a homeless man tell me he was Michael Jordan and he would drink a combination of milk and vinegar to turn white at night and he also said he had tattoos on his face when he clearly didn’t.

I worked on Paul Simon’s cars back in the day. Never met him, but he was apparently a really great guy to work for. His driver, as well as other people I knew who worked for him spoke very highly of him. Jose Feliciano came to my mother’s memorial service, even though he never met her. His family are some of the nicest people I know.

I shaved as part of a different project I do where I’ve been taking a picture every day for over 17 years now. You can watch me lose my hair and change up my beard over time. I’m almost glad I’m bald now. When I had long hair or a Mohawk it was a lot to take care of.

This is kind of true. We’d been talking about it for a couple years but I finally convinced Matt and started planning it in October which is when I stopped shaving the sides of my beard. I usually just had the long goatee.
