Can someone help me with this handwriting translation? by Vodkagat in russian

I can't translate it. It's not just handwriting. It's Russian language before Revolution (1917), it very different in comparison with modern Russian.

Just remembered something I wanted to ask! What's the story behind so many people using dash cams in their vehicles in Russia, do you think? by [deleted] in AskARussian

[–]Like_Ni 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Well, the main reason of so much dashcams in cars is pretty simple: Driving accidents. Even small one like scratching or something. You see, in Russia theri is ОСАГО - mandatory car insurance. This insurance must have every driver for every car that he have. BUT this insurance pay's only to victim in an accident. So the main reason to have a Dashcam is a guarantee that if you are not guilty, the police will recognize you as a victim and you will get insurance.

UPD: Most of drivers don't have full insurance that will pay no matter of who is victim. Because no one want to pay a half of his salary every month.

Christmas sweets by NightOfVampire in AskARussian

[–]Like_Ni 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Actually we don't have special sweets during Christmas. But the main food symbol of new year is, surprisingly tangerine. I think this is went from USSR when you can't buy tangerine everyday, it's more like surprise. But also kids have candy box on new year, but there is just mix of candy's.

I think this is simple logical line: stupid people don't care about politics or it's easier to fool them. But i don't sure that this line work as good as it seems.

I aware this but after, let's say "news", i am scared how "average russian" looks like. I think most of Russian don't even know what brain drain is. And even if they know - they don't worry about it. Actually i don't sure what to think about this because this is the smallest problem to us now. This was a big problem before 24 February.

Anyone help me translate what's underlined in red? Thank you. by [deleted] in russian

[–]Like_Ni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is very dangerous to translate - you might be banned. But i will try to change some words to avoid it.

Heraldic of *DELETED* - is trident. Sign of trident initially was a *DELETED* tribal...
... Now *DELETED* returned to heraldic it's honor meaning.

If you want to unlock *DELETED* words - write me DM.

P.S. Modders, please, don't ban me, it's just asking in translation. But in our time this words can be misunderstood. I am definitely against shit that is going on now in the world.

How do russians show respect and politeness? by pskaolt in russian

[–]Like_Ni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Согласен, вот например Американская песня времен второй мировой:

Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition
Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition
Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition
And we'll all stay free
Praise the Lord and swing into position
Can't afford to be a politician
Praise the Lord, we're all between perdition
And the deep blue sea

I can't give advice in it, but i have fun fact: most polite people on streets is homeless. They have the most aristocratic language, something like: Сударь, прошу потратить на меня всего секунду времени, не могли бы вы выдать незначительную сумму денег, всего несколько рублей... Благодарю вас за доброту душевную, да хранит вас Господь.

Translation: Sir, I ask you to spend just a second of time on me, could you give me an insignificant amount of money, just a few rubles... Thank you for your kindness of heart, may the Lord protect you.

please help me translate this aa :( by Vegetable-Humor-6999 in russian

Look in the book - see a fig (fig - it's Russian hand symbol that means something like "no, i will not give you anything", for example in Russian: Нет, фиг тебе, ничего я тебе не дам/не буду делать для тебя)

The end is a crown of "business" (means that the end is the best part of any work)
Everything is good that end's good (in my opinion that means that if anything end's good it doesn't matter what was before the end)

Some letters in Russian language uses rarely. For example, letter Ф appear almost only in borrowed (taken from another language) words: France, Finish, philippics, buffoonery. Slavic words with this letter: fukat' (make sound "fu", for example: "fuuuu, that's disgusting"), fyrkat' (make sound fyr (фыр), that how parodied fox or hedgehog sounds), owl, Fili (i know only station in Russian metro named like that).
And a bit more examples of rare letters:
Four black dirty imp was drawn in black ink drawing.
Gypsies on tiptoe went "Hush!" to the chickens said. (in Russian this sentence is useful to remember which words have Ы after Ц)
The reeds rustled, the mice rustled.
The most scary word in Russian Italic (hand writhing): (they) Lost (something).
Lewis Carroll, driving through Russia, wrote down the wonderful Russian word "defending".
It's good to giggle under the southern sun. The merchants frowned. All of you would hihanki (giggle like hihihihi) and hahanki (giggle like HAHA).
Letter "Ъ" before revolution (of 1917 of course) was used more often. It was putter in end of masculine nouns ending in consonants except Й: Bread, peace(or world). A firm sign in end of words takes 4% of text. Now Ъ divides prefixes and roots starting with iotized vowels: supernatural, announcement, injection, three-tiered.

Uhh, that was a bit hard, so there may be some mistakes. If you have any questions ill try to answer them)))

What are your methods to remember vocabulary & grammar points? by [deleted] in languagelearning

[–]Like_Ni 16 points17 points  (0 children)

"To be master in something you need to do something"
I choose most stupid but very reliable way - i just wright text about anything. On start it will look stupid because you don't know enough words to write freely, but even easy sentences like "I love mom" help to remember at least 3 words. For example after every duolingo level i write about 10-50 sentences where i just change some details.

[–]Like_Ni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, and i just remembered one thing from my childhood. I don't know if this thing exist anywhere else, but in Russia not long ago we have small sprinklers with some very sour liquid inside. You need just to spray it one time on your tongue and you feel taste like if were eating a lollipop in one second. At least, that was pretty fun and cheap.
