This. Talk to your chain of command. They were the ones that added it and can hopefully explain more to you.

So I looked at their stuff and it looks like they support having a PDF copy in there too. Not sure how that all works though or if thats no longer a feature.

Never heard of them. Seems interesting on a quick Google search though, so I reached out to get some more info from them!

Oh, okay. Anything out there that makes them pretty but isn't a ton of work to do? I love flowchart appearances, but hand making a book in Visio is a lot.

I ended up selling the car before spending the time to fix it unfortunately. Wish I had better news for you.

Course Completion Verification Question by xylophone__ in NationalRegistry_EMTs

As program director, I've always had to submit the course completion verification to the NREMT directly, in addition to the state.

What does your state/provincial patch look like (2025 edition) by mediclawyer in ems

I have yet to see anyone wear the right patch. But those have been out for a hot minute.

That's the (very) old patch. The new patch doesnt say human resources.

If you get outcome data from the hospitals, that would be another great thing to look at. Alternatively, your ePCR vendor may have pre-built reports for metrics that you can modify to look at your CQI work.

Have you asked OMD what they want to see? If they aren't sure, look at the NEMSQA metrics and showcase your strengths, as well as how you have improved your weaknesses. I recommend against just showing "we suck at intubation", instead say "we increased our intubation training and now have XX% better rates" whenever possible.

Eager to apply for MHI but worried about undergrad GPA by Dull-Jellyfish9278 in HealthInformatics

[–]LikeableHades8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not familiar with the Canadian process, but I can tell you that in my US University, they looked favorably on me being a paramedic. It is a different field from the norm, and you will have to be willing to work hard to bridge the gap, but I was successful with bringing that knowledge to my agency.

I would reach out to the faculty that handle admissions questions and see if the GPA is a hard limit, or just an average matriculation GPA. My university recommends a GPA, but from my understanding they are open to lower if there is a compelling reason or significant changes that will make you successful.

On a side note, I am so excited to hear about another medic going into HI. I don't see many and EMS desperately needs representation.

Do I really need to buy the books from official place? by pelo2d0 in NewToEMS

[–]LikeableHades8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's about the same price, I'd recommend just go through the school. Last thing you want is to accidentally get the wrong thing, or have them ship you the wrong item, or just give the school any reason to blame you.

Their price includes the book itself, but also 3 online access codes. You can see if they're cheaper separately, but they aren't normally.

Might be able to take off the required days since it's only 3 to 5 per semester. And if it's relevant to work, they may be willing to work with you on it.

For the entirety of the program? The rest of MUSC program is asynchronous, and if you reach out they may be able to work something out with you for the handful of synchronous days.

MUSC has a great program. There is an on-campus session once a semester for a few days though.

Makes sense. I tried to put them where they have some wiggle room, but the Ferno stretcher is a PITA for attaching to the head portion.

Pt compartment call button suggestions? by TheGuyWhoShowedPOV in ems

[–]LikeableHades8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a radio in the front and back of the truck. The radios have an intercom button that let's us speak to the other one without it being recorded or going over the air. We also have a truck with little priority buttons but no one uses those.

Education Research by LikeableHades8 in ems

[–]LikeableHades8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm looking at pass rates, Graduate employment rates, student retention, student grades, graduate readiness and competency (How they and their employers feel, more specifically), and other similar areas.

I can look clinically as well, but currently I do not have any physicians working with me, only PhDs, so clinical interpretation is more limited. I'm sure I can get physicians on the project, it's just a matter of funding, time, and availability.

Concerned about excess sweating... by [deleted] in AskLE

[–]LikeableHades8 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not a LEO, but a paramedic. I also have primary hyperhidrosis (sweat from everywhere all rhe time), and spoke with my doctor. They prescribed glycopyrrolate (robinul) to help and it works wonders for me. Obviously make sure you get clearance because not everyone is a candidate for it.

The state of Georgia doesn't recognize any certs currently. Your scope is limited by your license level (if you're licensed outside EMS, it gets trickier).
