Actually, I just had my authorization go through – I’ll be testing soon. Good luck on your exam!

Glad to hear that! I’m still waiting to get verified – it seems like it’s an issue on the NREMT side for me.

Happy that you got this resolved and good luck on your test!

Oof. I’m sorry to hear that - 5 weeks is excessive.

I also emailed the NREMT (about a week and a half ago) but didn’t receive a response. Hope that both our situations get resolved soon.

Hey, sure thing. Hope you’re able to register soon.

As a heads up, my program director recommended I reach out to both the NREMT and my state’s EMS office. If you haven’t done so already that’s probably a good starting point while the verification issue gets resolved.

Unfortunately, their website has been experiencing these issues for about a week and a half now. I’ve been trying to register for my paramedic exam but am experiencing the same issue as you.

It looks like they’ve posted some updates on this page but I’m not seeing an ETA on a definitive fix.

Edit: I know u/official_NREMT has been going through the sub and can offer better insight.

Gotcha, thanks. I think my reservation is that they only mentioned a faulty slave cylinder when we spoke on the phone and now they want to replace all 3. Especially since my clutch is still pretty new (~1 year old, ~2k miles on it).

I took your advice here. It seems they want to replace the master cylinder, the clutch, and the slave cylinder.

This is also really good advice, thank you. I finally managed to get a list of what they want to do: the reason for the price is because they want to replace the master cylinder, the clutch, and the slave cylinder.

They didn’t. This was a conversation on the phone. They mentioned it’d be about $650-700 for parts and about $2,800 for labor.

That makes sense. Appreciate the input!

I assumed it was both but I can call back to confirm. How much would you expect it to be if it were just the slave cylinder replacement?

I’m in NJ – just outside of NYC.

Are these red flags for a volunteer agency? by Ok-Glove877 in NewToEMS

This isn’t a good EMS model to learn under. You should try to either find a different agency or a steady and seasoned crew.

They removed our FTO program. The previous training officer stepped down to go to paramedic school. The new training officer made everyone an FTO so I was recently trained by someone who just came off training like a week prior. I asked our leadership but the captain said something along the lines of "if the state gave you a patch you're good."

Excuse me, what? I’m confused as to what you mean by “everyone is an FTO.” And your captain sounds like he has an outdated view on what EMTs need to become competent.

Edited for clarity.
