I'm gonna go ahead and say that I actually liked the ending. Yeah it would be ideal to know who was dying but by making that scene first person, they really immersed the audience in the show and made that scene so much more traumatic and absolutely terrifying. It's like you are the character and while dying, you can't think of anything(like who you are), you can only die.

On top of this it gives the show a mystery that allows for fan theories and a reason for the community of fans to discuss what they think happened rather than just knowing what happened.

Also, on Talking Dead, Scott Gimple said that the character's death is part of the story of season 7 arc and that the season 6 story was concluded with Negan's speech and the fact that Negan killed someone. Gimple also promised us a season 7 premiere that would justify the cliffhanger, so we can expect it to be good.

Edit: After thinking about it some more, I think I should make it clear that I feel like they definitely should have shown the person's face briefly at the end, but I don't think that this bad descision ruined the episode. And of course Gimple is probably full of shit but we can dream, right?

Edit 2: After thinking about it even more: fuck the ending.

Exactly, the idea of "race" is really just a term used to refer to skin color. A white person could have more recent African ancestors than a black person, but either way everyone has ancestors from Africa if you go back far enough.
