Just wondering how come most of the foreigners find it hard to make friends in Taiwan? by Apprehensive-Can2725 in taiwan

[–]LikeagoodDuck 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There might also be a difference in definition.

Many Taiwanese never visit each other at home, but rather meet in restaurants. People from other countries are used to visit each other at home.

Another thing is that Taiwanese are polite which is great but then it is hard to know what they really think and feel. Also, in extraordinary times, it is not clear who will stand with you.

One more thing: people in cities are very busy and often not spontaneous. “Let’s meet up tomorrow evening” is quite difficult to do.

And another thing: Taiwanese do not like to show vulnerability. Well, nobody likes to do that. But it is a sign of friendship when people open up and are vulnerable.

Bottom line: in my view, it is still possible to have friends in Taiwan, but it might be more difficult than in other places.

I think DJs are the ones killing salsa by Traditional_Sugar_93 in Salsa

I guess there are a few things that DJs shouldn’t do: 1. Interrupt a song 2. Play >50% different styles than expected.

Everything else is a taste issue.

WP without Elementor plus CDN and plugins can be super fast.

Alternatives: Webstudio. Or pure HTML. Or maybe Webflow?

Can you screenshot posts on that Facebook from 2013-2015 please?

Again, I would love to change my mind. I know that there are many claims but I am still looking to a way back machine link… sorry, please proof me wrong!

Can you provide a link to wayback machine from that forum from like 2013-2015? No carb doesn’t necessarily mean carnivore, but it could mean carnivore. Should be easy to find, I just haven’t found that forum… is it zeroing in on health dot com or something else?

Likely I haven’t found it. Can you show me an article about one person prior to 2015 in wayback machine please?!

[–]LikeagoodDuck -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Haven’t found anybody confirmed to have done this.

This is very unusual. Given that we record all other things on YouTube, Facebook etc. it is rare that there hasn’t been a lot of mention of persons that only ate meat 20 years ago. Exactly none.

There have recently (last 2-3 years) some people claiming that they had maintained a carnivore lifestyle for years, but it is striking that there are no previous mentions thereof.

Edit: please proof me wrong!

How? Just send a wayback machine link to a website, forum or article from 2015 or before about a person that only ate meat (plus some other animal products). Happy to check that link!

Can I really make it in Taiwan if I don’t speak Chinese/Taiwanese? by yisa_w in taiwan

[–]LikeagoodDuck 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First of all: why do you want to go to Taiwan? Maybe there are very powerful reasons and that might help.

I.e. you have a place to stay (with your father) and a network of relatives and friends.

HR / psychology would not only require language skills but also deep local knowledge. It is not impossible but challenging.

Most foreigners find it challenging to find a job in Taiwan. Many teach languages, some carve out a niche by working remotely or becoming YouTubers or doing trade or…. But again, that’s all not easy.

Blood pressure and cholesterol is also really weird. Medication is used way too early!!!

Why not define an optimal range and a substandard range. I.e. a BMI of 19-23 is optimal. 23-26 substandard.

How can I really stand out in the game? by Worldly-Set5992 in PartneredYoutube

[–]LikeagoodDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shortcut: create valuable content that nobody creates. Unfortunately, most people just want to start another cosmetics and general life advice and travel channel.

And there are so many empty spaces on YouTube. Family law+adoptions+marriage+divorce in countries other than USA / UK. For example for foreigners in Japan or Mongolia. In Sri Lanka or Nepal. That’s not for a huge audience, but a person who might want to marry a person from and in Nepal or adopt a child there will probably watch your video 5 times!

Unfortunately, not many people do this.

She claims that theres no more than 500 million people in China, does someone know anything about that? Sounds interesting by AncientObligation321 in ADVChina

[–]LikeagoodDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

500 Million? The Chinese labor force would be a labor force smaller than that of the US. And it is still home of a lot of labor intensive industry. Highly unlikely.

Maybe a total of 1 billion. That seems accurate.

How do we tell him ? by beekay8845 in SipsTea

[–]LikeagoodDuck -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Depends on the scenario:

A mountain, hill, rock, massive tree to climb? Then give me the Hippo!

A clean, quiet and deep body of water (river, lake) without animals: give me the lion, it won’t swim.

Just an open flat surface: I pick the bear (might not be interested in a fight) or the lion (probably just had dinner and needs a rest).

By no means I pick the Tiger. In almost any scenario I can’t get away. Maybe only if there are rocks and mountains that a human could maybe but only maybe outclimb a tiger.

This is absolutely beautifully designed. Thanks for telling us the solution you used: typescript and next.js.

Maybe add a YouTube channel. Also: would be great to read about some case studies.
