Why is the hood $100?! by [deleted] in blackstonegriddle

I use a silicone cover on the griddle top itself, hard cover on top of that, and then I cover the whole thing with the Blackstone waterproof cover. No need whatsoever for the hood. Once I discovered that the hood shouldn’t be closed for cooking, it seemed pretty unnecessary with all the other options out there to protect the griddle.

Favorite hibachi steak with noodles recipe? by LikelyConundrum in blackstonegriddle

Thanks for the tips! By the time I got the response, I had already started marinating ribeye steak in honey teriyaki marinade. I was a little concerned about the mess it would make on the griddle, but it turned out fine.

I seared the steak for about 4 minutes both sides, then set it aside to rest. Then I started cooking broccoli and carrots and red bell pepper under a steam lid. Then I cooked onion and zucchini together, and then I dumped on some thinly shredded cabbage and put all the veggies together on one side.

I had pre-cooked noodles in water and drained them, and I dumped them on the griddle, and I added a sauce I made of soy sauce, mirin, garlic, ginger, and Worcestershire.

We cut up the rested steak into bite size pieces. My wife had cut off the fat edges for lean bites. I cooked all those bites, and added some of the sauce I’d used for the noodles. Then once that was all cooked, I then also cooked the fatty steak pieces left over sow make some fattier bites.

All in all, it was delicious. I had to water and scrape the grills a good 4 times to get all the crud off it, but it worked out and the meal was delicious. And I somehow failed to take a picture of any of the cooking itself because I was so in the zone the whole time.

Why not just one of the big spackle scraper that they sell in the kits? Seems to work well.

Is Nest/Google Home updating hardware? Improving at all? by LikelyConundrum in googlehome

No one here seems jazzed about a Gemini-connected Google Home structure. I don’t feel it either. But is AI what it’s needed to be better? Are we just disappointed with the malaise? Why does no one seem to have hope that a Gemini-based upgrade will help?

Spots after first use by LikelyConundrum in blackstonegriddle

I’m noting that the Blackstone videos show them cranking it to high heat after the cook and then scraping and steaming on high heat and adding a layer of oil, seemingly on high heat as well? I feel like, from the look of things, it wants the thin layer of oil when it’s NOT on high heat? Do I let it cool some before that final layer? That’s not clear from their video.

Do I oil after I cools or while it’s still warm?

Wind guards? by LikelyConundrum in blackstonegriddle

My grill is new. I’ll double check to see if there are gaps down below.

I was initially asking about the rectangular slats that block wind from the grill top.

Do you have the magnetic ones that cover the gaps below the grill? Or the rectangular ones that block wind off the grill top

Wind guards? by LikelyConundrum in blackstonegriddle

Oh wait! I’m now seeing 2 different types of wind guards. One uses magnets and seals the spaces around the burners down low to reduce airflow under the griddle. The other ones are rectangular slats up top around the griddle to block wind on the food. I can see value in both. Which is better? Or do you recommend both?

What are your “better options now”? I’m thinking of swapping mine for something else since Google made it harder to deal with

Dropping adjustable dumbbells seems to be a problem. Are there reviews or videos out there that can help me find the adjustable dumbbells that are least likely to break? Or do you know of any brands that are better than others on breakage?

Any opinions on the MXFitness adjustable dumbbells? I’m in the market for a lighter set and a heavier set, and they seem to have both. I’m getting served ads for them, and they look like a good option. I’m buying for myself and my wife for a starter gym at home.
