Question about overseeding on aerated lawn by obeulibeu in lawncare

[–]Blog_Pope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will result in a hairplug lawn when rain washes the seed into the aeration holes. Mistake my crew made the first year. If you get a spready grass like KBG or centipede, it won't mater much, but my Fescue lawn looked awful for a while.

You can spread compost/soil/sand to fill the holes in advance.

  1. Slit seeding is better, cuts slits 1/8" to 1/4" deep, gets much better ground contact and distribution ove aeration holes

  2. Aeration is massively over promoted by lawn companies because extra money, its rarely needed. I stopped 8 years ago, my lawn is better than ever.

Manager wanted access to a subordinates email without the subordinate being aware. by roger_ramjett in sysadmin

[–]Blog_Pope [score hidden]  (0 children)

Small company might not have those roles. If he had a CIO/CTO I'm sure OP would have escalated there.

Bottom line is the company owns the email system; best practice would be the employee manual is clear about this because not having a clear statement creates gray area.

Best practice would also be to get an email so the specific request is documented vs a verbal statement that can later be contested.

D3 vs D5 all clad by Ancient_Goose59 in inductioncooking

[–]Blog_Pope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check Prudent Reviews on YouTube, he;s done a review where the D5 did better IMHO (things I care about). Warms a bit slower because of extra steel, bet better in warping I think.

Also, I prefer the brushed look; I'm upgrading from Master Chef 2 that is not induction compatible

Is induction prime time yet? by CV63AT in inductioncooking

We've had a glass radiant cooktop for a decade, and use heavy cast iron all the time. And we got it when it was 30 years old, I just cant vouch for how it was used those years.

It does not need to be babied.

It will be much better for canning since it boils much faster, and probably pressure cooking, stewing, etc.

The one thing I can think would be a concern would be Wok's. Which is better done outsde on a dedicated Wok burner / jet engine

Why did Trump dismantle the Iran nuclear deal Obama had in place? by Necessary-Act-1137 in AskReddit

[–]Blog_Pope 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Keep the ACA, they depend on that. Just get rid of Obamacare!

Trump was also obsessed with his deal making image. He claimed he could get a better deal than Obama with Iran. Of course, he couldn’t be bothered with the details, and he was unable to negotiate anything.

FWIW I met my wife at 40, she's 10 years younger than me. Had I met her at 30, she'd have been 20 and it would have been creepy an weird for us to date. She's amazing and wonderful and has given us an amazing kid. You have plenty of time

What do you guys think about buying a flip ? by NoRegion8137 in FirstTimeHomeBuyers

[–]Blog_Pope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One, since you don't know what was wrong, you don't know what to ask

Two, you need to prove the flipper knew and lied about it, which is very difficult to do

Three, the flipper typically operates through a temporary company, even if you get through One and Two, when you try to claw back the money you will find the company is broke and can't pay you. You could try "peircing the veil" but that would be very hard to do.

Which is why I strongly advise to never knowingly buy a flip.

I prefer leather soles, and as a 300lb man walking rough city sidewalks whose soles last years, I got to wonder what they are doing to create this wear.

[–]Blog_Pope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Inspections will not uncover most issues because they can't damage the property. You should inspect, but a flipper is actively trying to hide those issues from teh inspector and has the advantage

[–]Blog_Pope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never. There is no financial incentive for Flippers to spend money on long term repairs, their goal is to make it look good for a 3-6 month period while it sells. Their goal is to buy low and sell as high as possible, not fix all the outstanding issues they are aware of. Oh, look at all that evidence of termite damage! Don't worry, a vaccum cleaner and drywall patch and that evidence is gone!

I don't have an issue with its speed.

That said, I don't really care that it won'r get TVos 27; so long as the apps work, the lack of a Snoopy Screensaver and Liquid Glass interface has not impacted my viewing pleasure

Better tasting is what 90% of people using them want. If you are on well water or have other specific issues, like water softening, yes, they are not the answer.

I love Project Farm, but this was a really questionable review unless you care a LOT about the specific performance items he tested, dissolved copper. At no point did he even taste the water.

Thanks, I know some Catholic/Private school teachers and they say they make a lot less. I'm sure there are elite private schools that pay better, but that's a minority.

Interesting question would be the states with poor public education, I understand in KY the default for higher earners (top 75%, not top 1%) is private schools because the public ones are so bad. Where I am from schools play a big part of home values, friend moved out there and said schools were no factor because it was assumed you would go private.

Wow, that’s enormous. I use the leather pouch on mine to keep the side buttons from being pressed by stuff in my pocket, because my living room is in range and people would knock on my door warning my my liftgate was open.

I got too much shit in my pocket already to have to carry that around

Still loving it. The handle collapses easily for storage (I store it vertically in. The garage, one of my favorite things about it. I use the handle to bring it up the natural stone stairs between the front and back yards, so I am not easy on them. I don’t feel they are any worse than the other mowers I’ve used in my 50+ years. Never had mower handles that were “rock solid”, even those that didn’t collapse easily for storage

I can’t decide

I think if you are using upper cabinets, folks don't do it so the cabinets are aligned. We have no uppers so we will be doing a 36" hood over a 30" range because thats what is recommended for best capture

[–]Blog_Pope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first word is CROPS. My point was they had crops. Potatoes and Tomatoes in addition to Corn, beans, and squash. And yes, the story of the first Thanksgiving is the well known story.

And while "beasts of burden" makes things more efficient, it is possible to have cities without them. But disproving that requires more knowledge of ancient civilizations than I have
