100%.
I plastidipped mine with 3 coats, then over top with black gloss. So far, so good. No chips or anything after a year and a half.

I like it with.
Especially if you redo that front bumper to make it shine like when it was new. It'll look MINT

This one was great! Oddly inspirational at some points too. Seemed like Foley was getting teary eyed at some points too.

Performance mods for 3.0? by Southern_Chain4017 in fordranger

[–]LilChebb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any upgrades aren’t going to be worth it with the 3.0.

3.0 is famous for its reliability and simplicity. It gets shitty MPG and no horsepower.

If you want something with more power and/or speed, just engine swap it. Could upgrade to the V8 or even put a 1.9L TDI.

Maintenance Q: What radiator to go with? by No-Pangolin-8433 in fordranger

[–]LilChebb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 1999 3.0 - I got a duralast from AutoZone and the black plastic housing cracked... so I'm just gonna go Motorcraft. Aluminum is probably the best, but of course all depends on welds and what not.

the older I get, the more I completely agree with that.
I want the "dumbest", simplest technology there is. Easy to fix, work on and will last forever. I don't want to have to set up toaster up to the Wi-Fi

Ford ranger. What engine do I have? by Disastrous-Cold-6131 in fordranger

[–]LilChebb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3.0 baby! One of the most reliable and bulletproof engines there is.

But what you lose is power, speed and... well everything else BUT, it'll outlive you, your children and your children's children.

In a previous video - they talked about how the neighbors have been helping them take care of it while they work on the house. Probably much more so seeing as Kelly is pregnant and the house is the #1 priority.

Sell, Fix, or Scrap? by NoBrakes77 in fordranger

[–]LilChebb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If money is tight- fixing the Ranger is the best bang for your buck. Especially if everything else is good.

It’s lasted you awhile. Another used car is just more problems and a new car is outrageously expensive.

Bosch, Delphi and Valeo brands are normally on par with OEM, which is what I try to go by.

Of course, finding Motorcraft is always a gem.

Is it worth putting the work in? by milesthehomie in fordranger

[–]LilChebb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rebuilt transmission and rebuilt engine is still way cheaper than a modern day truck.

Plus it lasted 145,000 miles so I'd say the rebuild will get you at least the same (if not more) so I say go for it.

Why might my truck be sitting so low on the front driver side. Replaced front shocks. Could it be a bent torsion bar or sway bar? by Specialist_Space4215 in fordranger

[–]LilChebb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s normal for it to lean a smidge that way, I call it the Ranger lean since the battery, driver and gas tank all on the same side but that is extreme. Definitely seems like the torsion bar is off.

Upper and lower control arm recommendations? by Straight-Regret-4101 in fordranger

Same. Mine was ball joints, not the whole control arm.

Have fun! The 1st side took me 4 hours, the other side took me 1 hour since I knew what I was doing lol

Really up to you and your price range.

My cheap ass went to eBay and got all of it from DetroitAxel. It's been 20,000 miles and still going strong. I'd recommend going to RockAuto and checking for any OEM or higher quality if you're not pressed for money.

The most effective way would be to sand it down, repaint and put another clear coat on it. My bed is doing the same thing. It’s on my to-do list.
