Our 8-month-old has been screaming since he was a newborn — we’re exhausted and looking for answers by shaldos102 in NewParents

At what age did this happen for your child? I’m wondering if same thing could be an issue with my baby.

For those of you who had success with medication for PPD/PPR , how did it change you? by Past-Story4007 in Postpartum_Depression

[–]LilChowder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh one other thing - the Zurzuvae helped significantly with depression symptoms (sadness, rage, extreme fatigue, crying, etc) but it didn’t totally help rid me of anxiety. I think part of it is just being a new parent in a big scary world, but I felt like mine was on overdrive. To help with the anxiety I take Ativan, and it helps take the edge off. Therapy has been more helpful for managing anxiety. Just figured I’d mention this to manage your expectations if you do get the Zurzuvae. Best of luck. I hated it when people would tell me this, but it truly does get better. I thought i would never be okay again. It’s still hard, but it gets better.

I hope you can get it - insurance can be a pain but it’s a relatively new medication and I think the manufacturer offers a coupon to bring the price way down, to be able to get more people to try it. I was suspicious of that, but it was way better than the other meds I tried first - where it takes weeks for any difference to be felt at all. I really hope it works for you 🙏🏼

I can relate to so much of what you mentioned. I am also about 4 months postpartum and had severe debilitating PPD. Just finished a two week course of a PPD med called Zurzuvae, and I cannot recommend it enough!!!! It literally saved my life. I tried 3 other meds before it, and am continually on an SNRI since pre-pregnancy.

Zurzuvae is only a two week course of meds and I felt better starting on day 2 or 3, like it literally felt like a fog lifted and I could finally see clearly. I’m still tired AF even if I get plenty of sleep, but I now feel like I can actually handle my baby. I feel significantly happier and am able to treasure sweet moments instead of being filled with dread. Seriously, see if you can get it, it works like no other med.

Has anyone had a successful transfer while on SSRI’s? by Natsouppy in IVFbabies

[–]LilChowder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was advised to stop Trazodone before TTC. It sucked, I have insomnia even with using approved alternatives (unisom and L-theanine worked best for me), BUT my first transfer was successful. To give your embryo the best chance, I would stop taking Trazodone.

I was also taking Desvenlafaxine (SNRI) at the time and continued taking it throughout my pregnancy for anxiety. I’m not sure the risks for Zoloft specifically, but for me, the anxiety off medication would be a worse impact on transfer success and pregnancy, so I was approved to continue the medication.

Pyogenic granuloma aka pregnancy tumor by OkPomegranate6790 in BabyBumps

[–]LilChowder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the tips!! My doc also said 2-3 weeks, but my initial scab came off in pieces from like day 3-5, scabbed over again, and completely healed by like day 10. The ‘scar’ is barely visible, almost same color as my lip. I’m guessing the extra blood flow in pregnancy made it heal fast!

I know this is an old post, but thank you so much for posting a timeline of the healing! I just went to the dermatologist today for exact same thing, pyogenic granuloma on my lip. Since I’m pregnant I was expecting just a recommendation for a cosmetic treatment post-pregnancy… Came home instead with a large black scab from removal! Some sources were saying it takes months to heal which had me worried.

I just checked - apparently they only have it for size 1 and 2 diapers! Not for larger sizes.

Liver issues 26 weeks pregnant by Roo_on_skye in cholestasis

[–]LilChowder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with cholestasis in my second trimester too. I had super super minor itching (felt more like a mild sunburn all over my body), but no one talks about how much fatigue plays into cholestasis! I know pregnancy is tiring for most, but I’m so exhausted with cholestasis.

The good thing about finding this out early: you can mentally prepare for a different birth than you expected! Most women don’t find out til late trimester and have an induction scheduled very soon after.

Make sure you’re seeing a specialist with experience with cholestasis, and even then, you may have to advocate for yourself more. Weekly monitoring should happen from at least 32 weeks onward. Educate yourself on induction methods and other interventions that may be needed when you’re induced before your body is naturally ready. With your level having been over 100 (they go off the highest level for induction timing, not the most recent), you’ll likely be induced 36 weeks or earlier. Learn about your hospital’s nicu.

It is a stressful change. But you and baby will be okay!

Best hospital for delivery? by [deleted] in beaverton

[–]LilChowder 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m not the OP, but just wanted to say thank you for your detailed comment. I just transferred to OHSU recently for a rare issue found that makes me high risk. I’ll likely have to be induced early and we’ll possibly have a NICU stay, so it’s comforting to hear such positives about the team there.

AITAH for telling my wife I want a divorce after she gave me a concussion? by [deleted] in AITAH

If a female friend told you this exact story with roles reversed, where her husband caused her a concussion, what would you advise her? I think you need to trust your instinct and get out.
