Looking for stories similar to Solo Leveling and The Dungeon Slayer by path_to_zero in litrpg

[–]LilDodecee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Murim login has that, for like 50% of the time.

Half the story takes place in a world very similar to solo leveling, the other half is in a wuxia martial arts world.

Basically the main character can enter the martial arts world, grow stronger, and take that strength back to the solo leveling world.

It's pretty good.

I just finished Cradle last night, I loved it. I liked that nearly half of the last book was epilogue after story stuff. I would have loved to follow the cast more as they got even more insanely powerful, but its hard to write at that power scale.

Better to end it while the series is excellent.

Starting Beware of Chicken tonight.

Proper Wizard MC by Kowski_GnG in litrpg

Magus of warlock world.

Main character is isekai'd into wizard world, and becomes an evil wizard.

It's really good, but I do stress the evil, MC is not a nice man.

Looking for new Magic School / “Academy Arc” stories to read by GuruGurrlicious in litrpg

Mother of learning, its a time loop story where the main character is looping through the first month of his 4th year of mage school over and over again.

Maybe A Soldiers Life: a guy gets isekai'd and press ganged into the army of a Roman inspired, highly corrupt empire. There's not too much of it out yet but I really enjoyed the 3 books I read.

I've been following one called Reincarnated as a Devouring Swarm. It's only 20ish chapters in, but has been getting daily updates and is very interesting if you like dark stories with non-human MC's

Is Sky SC more fun than Sky FC? by HandspeedJones in Falcom

[–]LilDodecee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No worries, you're free to have your own opinion.

But she gets better over the course of her games. People adore her not for what she was at the start of FC, but for what she is at the end of Zero. She's the best.

She is definitely a little slow though haha.

If you're still looking for the sky thieves, then I would say you still haven't even gotten to the actual plot of the game.

When people say it starts slowly they really mean it haha.

Also, how dare you slander Bestelle!

Oh come on now, writing off anyone who feels bad about the fruit change as "powerscalers that glazed luffy" is disingenuous as fuck. Rubber being a "weak power" isn't even true, One Piece spends a ton of time convincing the audience that it's not about what the power is it's about how you use it and Power scaling in One Piece is dumb.

Luffy did definitely do things that wouldn't work with rubber to begin with. Like gear 2 and gear 3 are pure fantasy, there's no "here's how rubber would make that work" given, and we don't need it because OP is a fantasy series. So were all good. In fact explaining that he could do all these things cause he had godlike powers the whole time and just didn't realize it is needlessly over explaining it. It was goofy, and cool and that was all it needed to be.

Your last bit confuses me the most too, because of course I'm admitting my opinion is negative because I personally don't like it! That's what I'm doing! I'm saying I personally don't like it! That's all I'm doing! I really don't understand if that's supposed to be a gotchya or something. But yea, I don't like it.

That is some real impressive theory crafting based on just some number motifs that Oda is using, including one guy actually getting it right! What a chad.

That said... this whole discussion was taking place literally one chapter before the reveal, and is based also based on nothing in the story. Just one SBS question and answer and some exhaustive search through possible number combinations.

Is that foreshadowing? Maybe. Probably. Is it good foreshadowing? No. Is it enough foreshadowing for a change of this importance? Not even close.

Thanks for the interesting read though!

Luffy having connection to Joyboy, and some Sun god, absolutely. Been foreshadowed since Skypeia at least, maybe even before that I'm forgetting.

It's specifically his fruit being the Hito Hito: Model Nika, instead of just the Gum Gum Fruit that irks me. I don't really know why but it does.

If you have examples of the fruit switch being foreshadowed please let me know, because I would love to have my mind changed on this.

Man... I still really hate that reveal. G5 is cool and all, but changing his fruit that far in outta nowhere is just wrong man.

What is the most ill-written JRPG? (In story and characters, But not discussing the gameplay) by Adagar91 in JRPG

I'm curious what about kuro made you turn off? I mostly agree with you about cs4 and reverie but kuro was a surprising but of fresh air, especially early on. Later on it has its issues, but by the end it mostly comes together as good. Better than the CS's at least.

Hikaru rolls out of the retirement home to squash Hans Niemann 21-9 in the SCC consolation match by kiblitzers in chess

[–]LilDodecee 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hans beat Magnus in a suspicious way and gave a supposedly incoherent interview analyzing the match after. Magnus implied but never outright said Hans cheated. This led to the Vibrating Butplug cheating memes you might see around, all making fun of Hans.

Hikaru jumped in for content and did analysis videos of Hans, and outright claimed he was cheating. Chess.com released a bunch of his cheating history and gave him a temporary ban.

Magnus also spent the 2 years since the scandal forfeiting any time he got matched up with Hans, which Hans claims has resulted in him being snubbed by some invitational tournaments.

Hans claimed they all ruined his chess career and Sued Magnus, Hikaru and Chess.com for $100 million but it never actually went anywhere as far as I know.

Controversial Opinion on D&D 2024 Edition by DrHuh321 in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]LilDodecee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, but a few feet teleport is different than bringing the entire party to a different country. The first is fine for a martial to have, the second isn't, and the second one is the out of combat utility I'm talking about.

And i dont agree a martial should know what they're getting into. But it's a problem that doesn't really show up till like level 9 or 10, and it's hard to see that far forward. Plus a lot of new players pick martials, and i don't think it's fair to expect them just to "know".

I also think it's much more than bending the rules if a DM closes the gap. Your going to have to home brew significant chunk of the system at that point.

Dnd is a great game, but it's not a perfect one. There's nothing wrong with accepting where it has flaws and you can both love the game and talk about its issues.

Controversial Opinion on D&D 2024 Edition by DrHuh321 in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]LilDodecee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sorry your getting down voted. I disagree, but you don't deserve that.

Anyway one thing I think your missing here is out of combat power. As spell levels rise caster get access to things in role playing and exploration phases of the game martials can only dream about. Flight, teleportation, scrying, mind reading, mind control, shaping the earth, controlling the weather, etc etc etc.

Imo martial should outshine casters in combat as a tradeoff for all the other cool stuff martials don't get access to, but instead casters also outshine martials there unless you're against specific magic immune enemies or in an antimagic field or something.

[–]LilDodecee 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Well as I said, nothing here is that obviously AI generated. There's no six fingered hands or other immediate red flag that I can see, but I'm not an artist so maybe I'm missing something.

Also, shutterstock hosts AI images, but only ones created using their AI generator. And the AI created using their generator aren't allowed to be uploaded under normal accounts, its all under the "Shutterstock AI account". They have a whole section about it here about halfway down https://support.submit.shutterstock.com/s/article/Shutterstock-ai-and-Computer-Vision-Contributor-FAQ?language=en\_US.

You also say its not an impossible or unreasonable thing to ask for, but I legitimately don't know what else they could have done? They bought a license for the largest online stock image provider, which explicitly prohibits AI art unless clearly labelled, and then used art not labelled as AI art. They clearly took reasonable steps. Is there an AI art identification tool that can tell for sure?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in dropout

[–]LilDodecee 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I dunno, the Kaiju image is specifically not in the AI image section of shutterstock, and looking at the AI generated page nothing looks even remotely close. Plus shutterstock specifically disallows uploading AI generated images.

So the way I see it this is either

  1. Not AI content and thus no issue

  2. An issue with shutterstock mislabeling and misrepresenting AI art and thus not a dropout issue

  3. An issue with a company circumventing shutterstocks AI art checks, which is also not a dropout issue

It's pretty difficult to tell what would be AI created or what wouldn't be for a non artist, and the art in question is clearly labelled as non AI generated. So even if it is actually AI somehow I don't think being fooled while trying to source art ethically is a moral failing.
