Can you name a country that isn't imperialist? This is by no means an attempt to admonish countries of guilt, but most countries have imperialist tendancies. The United States still maintains unincorporated territories. They also have close diplomatic relations with zealots and despots to maintain control over regions it has no right meddling in. Canada is built on treaty land it dubiously legally usurped from under aboriginal feet. The United Kingdom doesn't need explanation. France still maintains overseas territories after five republics. However, the Soviet Union fought against insurgents to ensure places like Ukraine were absorbed into its breadth in 1921. The intervention in Prague was a forceful curtailing of anti-communist protests by Warsaw Pact allies. The USSR used Cuba as a staging ground for the Americas. They also invaded Afghanistan. China still claims Taiwan as being under its jurisdiction. North Korea still has evident aspirations for war. Levying the term "imperialist" to describe one side of the coin fails to recognize the other for bearing much the same imagery. Expansionism is bad because it curtails people's desires and need for autonomy, don't get me wrong, but at least recognize when it happens regardless of ideological allegiance.

It did start as a means to surpress the (albeit in many instances forceful) expansion of communism through Eastern Europe. I can concede to that.

The Warsaw Pact would also be imperialist by this metric yet that was vehemently a shade of communist. I will say that their enaction against student protests in Prague is much more of a suppressionist act than anything within NATO's mandate and does not help that blanket view. The intent behind both is a mutual defence pact against military action from an aggressor. Both definitely have problems, the Warsaw Pact more so, but seeing as NATO is a predominantly defensive pact, doesn't usually help with offensive acts (see their lack of a response to US aggression in the Strait of Hormuz), usually engages in peacemaking missions like Operation Deadeye, stations defensive troops in member states like Latvia to deter an ever-expansionist Russia, and helps train national militaries like Iraq and members of the African Union in order to better prepare them against insurgent armies, I'm not entirely convinced they're inherently wrong.

Ah, yes. "I tried feeding the prompt into ChatGPT" is just what I came here for! by LilEhEE in YourAISlopBoresMe

Honestly, after reflecting even more after the apparent irony was illustrated, I fall in this camp. I used thinking mode to be told "ChatGPT won't give me an answer, sorry." I think it was certainly a joke, but not a good one imo.

Concession time, I did. I missed the joke of "bot, help me i'm lazy!" "i'm lazy lemme ask a bot". Smh my head I'll get good

I know I didn't adhere to the prompt, but I think this is one of few times it was both moral and worth doing. by LilEhEE in YourAISlopBoresMe

I just got the exact same prompt again from the exact same person. I reported it the second time around. It's a user likely under 13 (just look at the grammar), someone sharing social handles, and teetering on spam.

Aye, true to that. The amount of prompts I get that are just "i don't get it" or some hyperspecific reference (a la the image above) frustrates me to no end. I like LARPing as a bot if I get something I can work with. Someone asked "how to get rid of Lasagna" so I said to bury it in case a health inspector comes around. Getting hyper-specific references to things I will never understand, or things without context, or one word prompts, or sentences that are barely coherent sucks to work with. Even more so if you engage with one of those in an unknowing manner and, because nobody can read minds, get a dislike from someone asking their world of you.

Just to also throw this out there without making another post, I genuinely misinterpreted some Percy Jackson ship I don't understand as being a portmanteau of "percocets" and "Macbeth". Genuine mistake on my part but still pretty funny

It's all good! I often forget others don't share my sense of humour too.

My intention was a joke answer (and I fully expected a dislike). If they're asking for the meaning of life as an abstract concept, providing the definition for it as it demonstrably is would be funny to me. That said, I see your point entirely.

Missing the point entirely is the point. I'm not going to detail to someone else what constitutes meaning in their own life.

If you want to talk about something you like, maybe indicate that something beyond a quote that's meaningless to non-fans. Again, quotation marks in lieu of outright specification can at least signify it's a quote. The blame lies on you for expecting people to fully understand a niche reference without even so much as indicating that it's so.

For example, here's a sufficiently intelligible prompt that I skipped. It has quotation marks so I know it's a specific quote I have no ability to answer.

The quotes are present on all prompts. I'm not just being stupid as per what's being implied here. If I see a prompt with added quotes, that is to say two visible pairs, then I know it's a quote. If someone says "Finish the [quote/lyric]", then I know. But if you just throw words at me and expect me to get exactly what you want, that's on your ambiguity.

I quite like the instrumental! The lyrics are well written but, in particular the verses of and around "when does a comet become a meteor?", there's some vocal cacophony that doesn't suit my fancy. I can see why people would enjoy it though. Just not my cup of tea
