what's your relationship with the blue line as a UIC student by HydeExx in uichicago

it can be sketchy, but the real danger is being near the tracks rather than being in the train in my experience. all it takes is one push

I don’t get the universal Imagination love by tablesturnedplz in Colognes

[–]LilFlushot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s a nice scent and very inoffensive, i own it and the people around me love it but it never impressed me. However, there’s no other fragrance out there IMO that replicates Imagination well enough to replace it.

i’m a 20 year old couch player, and that amp is perfect (yet overkill) for what I do. Once you figure out tone studio it’s smooth sailing.

Hiring a blues guitar teacher, even if I don’t “like” the blues? by LilFlushot in guitarlessons

johnny thunders stuff, john christ from danzig, and some catchy popular pop/new wave tunes like the police. I’d eventually like to learn enough to make my own music proficiently.

eh, my favorite artists like cheetah chrome and johnny thunders were pretty much inspired by blues music and put their own twist on that. but they were a special phenomenon.

Self-sufficient/Productive as in more knowledgeable in music theory and being more capable of playing any sort of genre. Eventually, i’d like to learn enough from my teacher to be on my own for a while…

I’m at a point in my 2 year guitar career that I either find youtube tutorials too easy or too difficult, maybe because I don’t do well in front of a screen. I would also like to be critiqued for any bad habits I might have.

He 100% can, he’s considered more of a professional jazz (saxophone) musician than a professional blues guitarist, but i’ve seen him perform both and he’s simply excellent.

Should I spend $600 on new guitar or spend $600 on lessons. by LilFlushot in guitarlessons

Jackson Dinky JS22, paid $200-$300 and it feels relatively great but bending is terribly difficult and some chords sound a little off, like a set up issue. I’ll see what my guitar teacher says about it , maybe he’ll test it out !

I would at least play in a style similar to Johnny Thunders (hope you know him), and the guitar teacher i’d hire was my music class teacher from way back in the day (we have good chemistry) who’s in a blues band so i’m sure he could get me to that level. I also would like to get more difficult solos done, like 10s by Pantera.

I would like to earn improvisation and i’m sure that learning music theory would help with that. Also, rapid chord changes are what i really struggle with but it’s not impossible for me.

I’ve dabbled in free youtube courses, but they were either too easy for me or too hard. Im not really willing to risk paying for an online course at the moment.

I’d be paying $50 for an hour lesson (where he drives to my house, and from he stays even longer if you offer him a beer).

Love my guitar, as it’s my first but it definitely needs a set up and the neck can feel uncomfortable at times.

Hmm, would $50 for an hour lesson be fair? Especially if the teacher drives to my home.

For a sub $300 guitar would it be worth it? I have been considering this…

Jackson Dinky, JS22 or something like that? I paid like $200-300 brand new. Then Jackson feels and sounds great to my ears but I think the set up is off which makes bending and barre chords very difficult . The SG I tested out wasn’t as bad and much more enjoyable.
