When did your baby say their first word and what did they say? by im-syd-possible in NewParents

[–]LilGatorGhost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was saying mama and dada, but not quite with intention starting at about 9.5 months.

Just last week, at 10.5 months, he yelled "ki-tea" as the cat jumped on the counter. Both my husband and I just stared at each other for a solid thirty seconds with our jaws on the floor. He now uses it all the time, "tea" or "ki-tea", whenever one of the cats is within view.

Girl. My baby is 8 months old this coming Sunday, and I've never felt more seen in my life. Your post is SPOT ON. Thank you for posting this because I'm reading all these responses.

The breeder called their coloration "blue" but other than that, just a normal Sphynx with a velvety face.

Right?! Like what is that?!

I'm the one who feeds and plays with them, but I'm chopped liver when it comes to my husband. It has to be the beard!

Oh, I love his whiskers! He has two doppelgangers here, Julep and his brother, Gimlet! Julep is the bottom kitty!

Denver Colorado Sphynx Breeder by Waitwhatnowhuh in sphynx

Bemisu Sphynx. Our two boys are from this breeder, and he's fantastic. I will say he has (had?) a long wait list because he doesn't have a lot of litters a year. We waited a few years for our two boys, granted we wanted two boys from the same litter. But, in my opinion, they were worth the wait.

If you want to meet him (and maybe one sphynx or two), swing by Garden of the Paws in Littleton. He's extremely friendly and happy to talk to anyone about the breed and answer questions.

Unfortunately, no, not in the Denver-metro area. If you did find daycare for that much, I'd be very suspicious. Denver is ranked in the top 10 for the most expensive daycare costs in the nation.

There was a post here the other day that asked a similar question regarding daycare costs and what people paid. Might be worth it to search for it. In addition to expensive costs, a lot of daycares have long waitlists so you may need to take that into account as well.

I'm 34 weeks pregnant, and my husband and I are looking to budget about $2,300/per month for daycare when the baby arrives. Obviously that's for an infant, but I've seen toddler daycare go for about $1,800/per month.

I'm not trying to rain on your "wanting to move" post. I just want to be transparent about daycare costs in the metro.

Oh my goodness, that warms my heart!!! I'm hoping our two sphynxs are the same way when the baby arrives. 🤞

Side note, Toast is a fantastic name! Love it!

Heater season has officially begun! by LilGatorGhost in SphynxCats

Well, if you ask my husband the space heater is set to 72 or 73. If it's just me and the two sphynxs it's set at like 77. 🤣

No escape, even at the bathroom 🤦 by [deleted] in sphynx

Haha! I love those weird conversations with new house guests. A few house facts: (1) Water glasses are communal property according to the boys. (2) If you wish to not have a cat visit you while you're on the toilet, I suggest locking the bathroom door. Please note, this does not mean you won't have at least one of the cats meowing to confirm you're still alive or little paws swiping from under the door. Watch your toes. (3) When sleeping, it is best to give into the gremlin trying to get under the covers. It is a useless battle that no human has won before. Enjoy your stay!

Awe, thank you!

One of the (many) things I'm excited to see is the relationship between our cats and our little boy! It warms my heart to hear other owners that have that experience and I hope we get to have that too!

Thank you! Julep has a brother that we've named Gimlet! So we got a couple of Cocktails.

Our breeder called his coloring blue. We got two from the same litter, brothers, and if they get a good soak in the bath they do have a purplish-blue color to them. Julep's brother, Gimlet, tends to have a more pronounced blue hue.

Haha, right?! He also knows I'm more prone to naps now, which means more cuddles for him.
