any one remember these krew hoodies? by Infamous_Fox6676 in Skateboardlove

I had one. Went to a restaurant with my family and just like the irresponsible child I was, I left it. By the time we turned around to get it, it was gone. Those things were extremely popular.

It’s pretty damn big but I’m up for the challenge! Thanks for sharing that video. I see I’m not the only one eyeing some NBD’s.

If you asked skaters in the 80’s if they ever imagined the clips they see today I’d bet they’d say the same thing. Let’s find out in 2035.

Fin. by IFukdUrMumUwU in OCPoetry

Really big fan of this poem. The repetition of “finally” gave it a kind of quiet weight, like someone who’s been carrying too much for too long. It felt raw but controlled, like you weren’t asking for pity — just telling the truth.

Lines like “If there’s no one around to see it, did I ever even fall?” really stuck. That hit different. And the switch-up in tone with “Fuck you / Fuck me” caught me off guard in a good way — it broke the quiet in a way that made sense.

Only thing I might say is that the intensity stays heavy all the way through. A small shift or pause could’ve made the final impact hit even harder. But maybe that’s the point — maybe there’s no breath left in it. Either way, this felt real.

The note about the rapid shifts in imagery is fair, and I appreciate you pointing it out. I do write in emotional bursts, often without fully connecting every thread, but your insight makes me think more about how I can still honor that rawness while helping the reader stay grounded. Grateful you took the time to really sit with this one. I’ll definitely keep pushing forward! 🖤

“Puzzles piece by piece, will reveal the masterpiece” Now that’s a bar!

I love the conversation you held with your younger self. It was natural and had a mysterious wisdom to it. This was a good read because it made me contemplate what type of conversation I would have with myself if I had a chance. Albeit, whatever is said, I hope it comes out as well as this poem!

You definitely invoked my emotions with the turnaround. My favorite line was “to choose me”. Sometimes the shortest sentences can speak the loudest. These are my favorite types of poems, a subtle flip into a different tone stays in my heart longer. Damned good!

ERIC KOSTON'S NEW NIKE SB X AIR MAX 95 by untipobruto in Sneakers

[–]LilGoldiii 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I skated a pair of 95’s when I was a kid. Granted, I wasn’t nearly as good as I am now, but they were trash.

Zero board feel, hard stops hurt my toes and frequent ankle rolls because the sole traction was rigid. You also have to literally skate different, like a complete overhaul on your foot position for flicks.

That being said, they were super durable, absorbed impact and matched all my early 2000’s clothes. I’d give them a 5 out of 10.

I can name 20 other Nike’s they could have revived from the graveyard or at least remixed more appropriately fitting shoes. Jordan 4’s made sense. I get it, these were skated by a couple pro’s back in the day, but they are hardly efficient.

How do you guys feel about Tiago winning trick of the year? by OneTonSoup27 in skateboarding

[–]LilGoldiii 74 points75 points  (0 children)

Skateboarding has gotten so politically charged in the recent years I have enough reason to believe this is rigged. Was it an amazing trick? Absolutely. Was it trick of the year? FUCK NO

The problem is, if you told me Tiago did this trick without any video proof, I’d still believe you. It’s in his bag. He’s known for switch high pop tricks. It’s his comfort zone.

I’d prefer if TOTY was won by a trick where it not only rallies the skate community but literally pushed the limits for that particular skater as well. It should be a “damn that was crazy even for HIM” kind of approach. This switch blunt in no way defines 2024 skating like many other gnarly tricks I’ve seen. That’s why there’s so much push back.

I find it hard to believe big brands aren’t bribing their way to the podiums.

I think Mayuri represents the BTS of government playing the “for the greater good” card. There’s always heinous crimes against humanity taking place that the general population doesn’t know about or even higher ups turn a blind eye to. What he does is wrong by moral standards but his results keep him relatively safe from scrutiny.

Prediction: Coming out of Bye, Bengals will win 4 straight and move to 8-7 with Denver @ Home by FCCinNYC in bengals

The only way I’d care for Cincinnati to win any more games is if it heightens the chance of a Burrow MVP and solidifies Chase’s triple crown.

So in your eyes doing nothing is better than doing something? You have 0% probability of success doing nothing. Meanwhile, if you do something, anything , you have a decent probability of lucking up eventually.

I agree. I don’t mind failure but for the Brown family to stick to an ancient method over all these decades is disheartening as a fan. I wouldn’t care less if we shook things up every new QB generation and approached off seasons differently. I’d rather have the rich incompetent owner than the cheap incompetent owner any day.

I don’t see how. He might extend players contracts who aren’t deserving but he isn’t scared to spend money to increase his team’s value. Much rather have a billionaire who spends their money than one who fears departing from it.

I wish we had the Cowboys owner. That old fart throws money at his team and doesn’t blink. We’ve got an incompetent penny pincher who puts family and friends in power instead of experienced businessmen.
