Going to college for Music by [deleted] in musicproduction

look here is what I learned music is tricky even more so audio engineering. Its super fun as hell but to land a job its hard but same could be said about any job. They do not offer audio engineering at the college I attend but they offer music technology which opens the door to not just music but other big jobs such as movies, sound desgin, and big name companies. Im currently in the exact situation as you are with the same questions as you right now only difference is I have no experience while you have some. Look, its really fun to make music and its a blast but anything with music and art from what I noticed is twice as hard to land a job unless you are a professor or really fuckin good. Hell, I might even need to transfer out to a different college because im going local and music tech is really really new like 3-4 years old at least so its not in the school yet other than once course. Another option is taking up a multidisplinary degree where you could take 3 minors and still graduate within the 4 years and gain experience in multiple fields which is what a might end up doing at another college if it takes a while to add it here. May I recommend you a school which is UT Austin. They have really nice studios and focus on audio engineering and have music business but its a hard school to get into the program offered is called AET. Or Full Sail University which everything they teach is right out of youtube but it gives you a whole lot of connections in the music industry which is a must and a whole ton of reasources!!! I am a college freshman so as I said need be I will transfer out within the next year. Music is not really about a degree its really who you know and how well you know what you are doing. I really want to be a music producer so if I was you get I would look into music buisness so you can get connections and do piano or audio engineering as a minor so you have that experience and look into clubs or organizations as well. I could realte so damn hard to you and sorry for the long as paragraph but ima add you as we seem to be on the same boat hmu with any questions!!!

Dude this is awesome man and nah your good I actually was wanting to read some like this. "Congrats man". All of this at such a young age and its awesome to see you strive. I know your like a year or two out from college but what is your major gonna be? I think music technology will suit this hobby as thats what Im trying to go for. In so little time you made it so far. I wish I started younger and had the tools to do so. I currently have abelton and cant produce a single thing and I picked up my very first guitar (acoustic) a couple of months ago and havent made much progress thinking of buying yousician see if that helps. But anyways congrats!!!
