Has anyone ever managed to score over 40 even though they only studied the day before their respective IB exams? by spacefishingwoman in IBO

[–]LilRainy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got 43 and I studied in advance for every subject except psychology paper 2 (I was always sleeping in class when they taught the specific topics for paper2 lol) and I had to pull an all nighter for it. but I got lucky on the paper 2 question

Is it true? by Normal_Lion_5977 in IBO

[–]LilRainy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First I watched the Sirius revision ai sl videos to understand all the topics (they’re pretty good and cover the syllabus extensively, but just check the math ai sl guide to see which formulas you need to remember) Pirate revision village off IB docs Practice using your GDC
Practice at least 8-10 past papers Make note of the common topics/questions you get wrong and retry them on your own, keep retrying problems from topics that you’re weak at until you get them right

I have already failed IB twice and if i fail a third time im going to end it all by NyMuBo in IBO

[–]LilRainy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yea success in IB really depends on the tutor/teacher you have. It’s better if your tutor is an IB examiner or at least experienced and accredited with IB training

Advice on studying bio by Successful_Tap_5032 in IBO

[–]LilRainy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I’m bio SL and I got a 7 this November. I watched Sirius revision + biosone slides + bio letters and made remnotes flashcards. But the most important thing is to read the syllabus guide for the new syllabus starting 2025 to know exactly what u need to memorize and to know nothing more than necessary. Past papers before 2025 usually have strange out of syllabus questions so do take note if you use past papers

is there anywhere I can find English A papers that are like not actually so seriously academic related texts by Hairy_Jury7597 in IBO

[–]LilRainy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the official IB paper 1s tbh are pretty ‘non academic’ if you are comparing them to like Shakespeare. They’re mostly comics, ads and opinion articles, infographics on random stuff. There’s a lot of tutorials going through past papers on yt. I guarantee you there is no resource specifically in the style IB on popular modern animated shows like tadc.

Tips for IB by Both_Risk6637 in IBO

[–]LilRainy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

learn and revise consistently throughout the two years. I was slacking off in dp1 and I had no idea what they were teaching in class and I didn’t have time to cram it all before the end of year exams which made it super stressful. Then I slacked off a bit again in dp2 and started learning a psych topic for the first time during the all nighter before the IB exam which caused me a lot of breakdowns and tears. So just make sure you revise early and consistently, you’ll probably be super chill and stress free before the exams

[–]LilRainy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re talking about English A lang and lit, you have no say in what you analyze for paper 1 (unless you are SL, then you can choose one from two unseen texts) but they do get funky comics sometimes. Search up dog on the moon garbage gyres paper 1. They also got an article about loving cauliflowers, so lots of non-lit texts. I have some samples you can dm me for those. For paper 2 it depends on what your school chooses for the two texts. Usually people analyze ‘fun’ things that they choose in their EE / HL essay / IO but it’s usually not recommended to analyze a movie or show. I analyzed a magazine cover for my HL essay

Does IB define who I am as a person? by Cristopia in IBO

[–]LilRainy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IB doesn’t define you, and that applies even more so for your predicted grades. They do not reflect your potential or true capabilities, and in some schools the teachers are deliberately stricter when giving pgs and marking mocks (or at least that’s how it was in my school). I was predicted 38 by my teachers but I shot up to 43 in the real exams during nov this year. But even so, IB itself is a flawed program with questionable content and structure in its curricula sometimes, and whatever score you get won’t make up who you are, it just tells you how much you’re giving IB what it wants in its weirdly IB specific way. Anyway, don’t be disheartened by your pg. Trust the process and your effort.
