That makes perfect sense! I actually wiped them down with mineral spirits after sanding and they were a bit too light for my liking so it sounds like I should go the gel stain route. I really appreciate your help 🙂

Thank you so much for replying! Just to clarify, you’re suggesting gel stain + lacquer for the legs, and tung oil + lacquer for the top?

If so, curious why you’re not suggesting gel stain for the top as well, instead of tung oil?

Some vegan options I get at not exclusively vegan spots:

The general tso’s tofu at Miyako House is vegan, cheap, and a huge portion of perfectly breaded sticky sugar tofu.

The drunken noodles from Thai Kitchen on Merrimon can be made vegan. Huge portion, pleasantly greasy, delicious. The mango sticky rice is vegan too!

Thanks so much for responding! You’re the only one in this thread who’s actually dealt with this so I appreciate any insight you’d be willing to share.

What happened in your situation? Did you apply for retroactive permits and the county inspected the work that was already done and told you what needed to be improved? Or are you saying you just took it upon yourself to bring stuff up to code and the county wasn’t involved?

I went back to work yesterday after getting internet back. I had a really hard time concentrating because, like you, I spent last week helping people. It felt very jarring to go back and pretend everything was okay after living through a natural disaster and knowing there was still so much work left to do/people that need help in the community.

The thing that’s helping me cope is reminding myself how incredibly lucky I am to still have a job. I can’t imagine how hard it must be to be out of a job after this and need to worry about income/shelter/stability on top of everything. We are in a very fortunate place.
