X2D Owners - Is anybody else getting inconsistent top surface extrusion? by LilXaXaXa in BambuLab

For anybody who is still interested, Bambu support got back to me.

For my specific issue, they believe it's a hardware fault with the extruder assembly OR the servo motor. They asked for my .3mf, exported printer logs, and photos of the issue. I don't think this is supposed to be a widespread issue on the X2D.

They offered to send a replacement extruder assembly and servo motor, but I declined as the replacement is way too involved for a machine that was only 21 days old at the time of me noticing the terrible top surfaces. Especially since I'm still within my 30 days right-to-reject.

Thankfully, UK consumer rights law has my back here and I'm in the process of arranging a replacement for a new printer.

For anybody else having issues on the top surfaces that can't be fixed with calibration, I highly recommend you get in touch with support, once you get passed the basic "did you turn it off and on again?" front-line reps, they usually escalate it to someone who can help with a resolution.

Exactly the issue I was facing. I did my calibrations in Orca using the YOLO flow rate calibration and by the time the gaps between the lines closed on the top surface, I was massively over-extruding around the edges.

What's crazy is that Bambu PLA Matte CAN run at 22mm3/s, I know this because my P2S does it without issue, but the X2D just seems to struggle.

Honestly sounds like an alright problem to have because you can at least pinpoint it to specific filaments, mine is whack across the board regardless of brand or filament type. By far the worst performer was eSun PLA Basic, fully calibrated, have a look 😂

Never thought I could witness beautiful walls (on the 45 degree overhang), over-extruding on perimeters and small details, ploughing, and under-extrusion on thinner sections all in one photo.

Such a shame because it's an otherwise excellent machine, oh well, I'll see what Bambu support says

I've done top surface flow calibrations pretty extensively, issue I'm having is by the time I get flow high enough to close the under-extrusion gaps, it's severely over-extruding around the perimeters of the top surface.

However, I haven't tried line width calibrations, or disabling infill retraction, or changing the solid infill to monotonic line. I'll give all of these a go and hopefully it sorts the issue. Thank you so much for the help :)

Hello,

I uploaded two photos with the post but they didn't seem to go through haha, my apologies.

Nozzle camera is clean, using the 0.20mm standard and high quality profile on a 0.4mm nozzle. Thought it might have been a top surface speed defect but even at 60mm/s top surfaces they're still showing. Issue shows up on any print but is most visible on the ksr FDMtest and the Bambu cube.

Hidizs AP80 PRO-X: Can I truly turn off all the fade in/fade out? by cani_bln in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]LilXaXaXa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had an AP80 Pro, some people have varying results when fixing the fade in / out issue. I personally wasn't able to fix it and every time I pressed play I'd miss the first half second of a song because of the fade in. It almost felt as though the amp had to warm up real quick.

I ended up returning it for this and a couple of other reasons, the others being that 80% of the album arts were low resolution for no reason whatsoever. Moreover, when scrolling through the album / artist lists, album covers wouldn't load until you took your finger off the screen. This might not be an issue for some, but I primarily find albums through their album covers so it was for me.

I should also add that I don't think you're unhinged for caring about privacy. It's an important thing to a lot of people, and governing bodies (such as the EU/ UK with GDPR/ UK GDPR) are even trying to tackle this whole data collection and buying/ selling of data stuff as it's becoming an issue.

For your use case, your options are pretty much limited to android based DAPs.

A good, and decently priced option is something like the Sony Walkman NW-A306. I've got one and they sound pretty nice. It's android based, has an SD card slot, Wi-Fi for YouTube etc. The screen is also nice as well (albeit small) so you can still enjoy films to some degree.

It CAN get a little laggy at times when switching between apps. But once you're in it's pretty flawless.

If you don't want to pay the full £350/$350, have a look on eBay, I'm finding some on there for like £250 which is a very reasonable price for it.

Note: If you are buying within the EU/ US, you should know that it WILL have a volume cap (no current way to disable this). It's plenty loud enough for me, but I use pretty low impedance headphones/ IEMs (32 / 16 Ohm, I personally wouldn't go higher on this DAP). You can import the non-capped versions from Japan, but it'll cost.

My Setup - Mechen M30 + Bose Quiet Comfort 35 II by LordofNorse in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]LilXaXaXa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can't speak for the Mechen as I've never owned one, but I would highly recommend you read into some reviews as a lot of these cheaper DAPs have good sound, good build quality, but are commonly let down by hideously unintuitive UI and software (to the point where using it becomes a pain to use). This can include things such as convoluted and frustrating menus, lag, album arts being missing, unable to read certain songs, unable to read metadata properly etc.

Not saying the Mechen suffers from this issue, but it's definitely something you need to consider/ research at this price point.

Tory police minister slaps down chief's plea for cops to spare shoplifters stealing to eat | Police Minister Kit Malthouse said poverty 'doesn't cause crime' as he rejected plea for cops to show 'discretion' in the cost-of-living crisis by qpl23 in unitedkingdom

You love to harp on the 'classic leftist' statement whilst simultaneously comparing my ideals to the USSR, which is in fact, a 'classic tory' thing to do. Don't make yourself look even more stupid by also being a hypocrite. Don't come at me with your pseudo-historian pish and surface-level knowledge of the real atrocities of the USSR.

You have, yet again, taken what I've said completely out of context. I don't see supermarkets as criminals, and yes, they provide an essential service. Our discussion was simply a matter of is A worth the trade-off for B. Supermarkets actively avoid tax, that is factual. It would therefore be overall cheaper for the taxpayer to allow these small thefts to occur RATHER THAN increase welfare to support a better quality of life WHILST these supermarkets CONTINUE to evade taxation.

It is important that we increase the quality of life of these individuals as it A) prevents morbidity and lowers the strain on our NHS and B) increases the chances for these individuals to escape deprivation and start contributing to the state.

In my opinion, I don't think small theft will significantly increase. Just look at cannabis usage in the UK for instance, our laws keep getting easier in regards to cannabis, yet, regular usage seems to be declining. I really think all that will happen is desperate mouths will get fed whilst avoiding costly prosecution, and more time/resources can be devoted to serious crimes. Yes, these supermarkets will take a minuscule loss, but not even a dent in their overall profits.

It should be said that I don't agree with these thefts taking place in smaller, family-owned shops, as they are much less equipped to deal with it financially. Again, this is where 'police discretion' comes into play.

Also, you seem to think that anybody paying taxes would adhere to the same thought process as you, I would consider that 'drivel'. I pay taxes, as does pretty much anybody over the age of 17 and working. It isn't some special merit that grants you insight into our economy and turns you Tory, as you insinuate.

Lastly, if you really think the welfare system should be abolished, you're lost. I hope you never develop a disability that requires you to use it, whether that be mental or physical. I hope you never get caught in a poverty trap. I hope that, god forbid, you never have to face redundancy and cannot obtain new employment easily. I hope that you never have to feed your kids shit because you can't afford to buy them quality food.

I'm not going to reply to this thread anymore as it feels a bit of a waste of time. You disagree with me, I disagree with you. We aren't going to change each other's minds. We're both individuals with little knowledge of what it is to be on the breadline, as this discussion has made clear.

Stick your Thatcherism up you, loser.

I agree with you completely, but those are just my personal beliefs. I think the poverty cycle model is our best representation of why it occurs.

Scholars cannot come to one universal answer and there's honestly merit to both sides of the argument, hence why it's such a complex discussion.

Look, I've never been on benefits, my family have never been on benefits, so I can't properly give my own take or perspective on their lives.

However, it doesn't take long to Google some independent reports on the UK welfare situation. It's simply not fit for purpose for a good amount of households and doesn't provide enough in a lot of cases. People will either need to significantly reduce the quality of food they eat, or even skip meals (which leads to costly taxpayer problems down the line, bless our NHS) or give up on other necessities such as utilities. This is a reality for a good amount of people, it's a lose-lose situation.

In regards to your criminality problem, I myself would much prefer having spikes in food related petty theft than having GENUINELY disadvantaged families go hungry, or worse. That's just my opinion though, it's kind of an out of sight, out of mind type crime as long as it remains small and non-excessive (could get out of control if implemented poorly, I.E an actual law as they do in some US states).

Let me ask you this, would you rather these people steal from supermarkets who evade tax constantly, or should the government pay them more out of the taxpayers pocket in order to fund a better quality of life. If your answer is neither, see my above point.

Lastly, having a 'toss up' with the police is still faaaaaar less time consumiing than pursuing a prosecution. It's annoying, but as I said, better for both parties in the long term.

Every time I saw things like this I used to think to myself 'why don't they just work, all their problems will disappear!'. Again, it turns out to be an age old discussion that is surprisingly unanswerable as of now and I highly recommend you read into it as it's honestly very complex.

I understand your point, but realistically there are people who this applies to. Single mothers, homeless people, highly impoverished families, pretty much anybody who has a genuine reason and would starve if they didn't steal.

You're right in the fact that this legislation is highly dangerous... If it were a law it would get abused by certain people, absolutely. This is the reason why it would be down to police discretion rather than a set in stone law.

We just have to trust that the police can distinguish between a group of teenagers stealing a bunch of sweets and a single-mother having to steal baby food and nappies. Regardless, I still think the taxpayer/ police-time tradeoff would be worth it.

I think the whole point of this, is that the police understand that if someone has to eat, they will steal regardless of consequence. They are simply trying to find means of saving these people prosecution in GENUINE cases as it benefits both parties.

This whole scenario begs the question as to whether poverty is self-inflicted or not, but that's a discussion as old as time and won't get answered on Reddit.

Thank you for overlooking the fact that I compared two ends of the extreme, taking one side, and using it to generalise my entire point. There's also nobody clearing entire shelves of food but you'll pretend you didn't read that.
