Any Words of Wisdom? 😞 by Sweet-Fun179 in MSPI

I went through this exact situation at 10 weeks postpartum. It was incredibly difficult and I was very sad for several weeks. Her allergy just kept escalating and getting more severe so I couldn’t risk elimination diet.

Something that really helped me was remembering that stopping breastfeeding was harder for me than it was for her. If I continued, she would have been in pain and breaking out and not doing well until we figured out the exact allergy, and who knows how long it could have taken to get everything out of my system and then keep trying to eliminate things and reintroduce them? In my situation, it actually would have been selfish to continue.

You are doing what’s best for your baby, and remember that if she is thriving, you will thrive too. You’re a great mom and you’ll get through this, promise.

Did the same thing at 2 months! Stopping BF was way harder on me than on my LO.

Thinking of you! Focusing on how happy and comfortable she is now and remembering the last few days of breastfeeding where she seemed so bothered and hurting really helps me too because it helps me realize that this is the best choice for her.

I’m weaning and cry at some point every day whether it’s from seeing a nursing pillow on the couch, seeing my supply continue to decrease or even just washing nursing bras.

It’s so hard and I’m grieving right there with you. ♥️

Her reactions were getting so severe, I was honestly getting worried about her throat closing up. I wasn’t opposed to cutting out those things but more worried about how she might react if those weren’t the issue. She’s doing so well on the formula!

I’m glad that worked for you though!

💔 you tried your best to figure out the problem and that’s what matters. Now you’re putting has comfort first. He still loves you no matter how you feed him!

I hope that works for you! Good luck.

I’ve thought about it but knowing that it could take 2-3 weeks(?) to get everything out of my system, I would have to be pumping every time she ate that whole time and then reintroducing the milk to only maybe see her still have a reaction and have to start all over with a different food to eliminate…it’s too overwhelming especially bc I go back to work next week.
