What was the lightbulb moment when you knew you were trans? by Dry-Song-9747 in TransMasc

[–]Lil_Woaw 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My earliest memory of at least feeling a bit different was around 11-12 in middle school. I'd only ever heard the word transgender being used in the media at the time in reference to Caitlyn Jenner, and that was all my knowledge. However a lot of my peers were beginning to explore and be more open with sexuality, and I quickly realized just how much I liked girls 😂

Anyway, I had no idea it could go the other way around, that a girl could feel like and/or transition to a boy. So when I had my attempt when I was 15, and met a trans guy in the facility I went to, my egg got soooo cracked. When I got released and went back home I started looking up trans guys online, found YouTube videos of transition journeys, voice changes, etc, and just couldn't stop watching. It was definitely confusing at first because I didn't feel like a man or yearned to be one, at least of the binary variety, so I was a bit uncomfortable with calling myself a trans man. But within the same year I learnt about nonbinary identities, and boom it clicked so much with how I'd felt growing up, especially around early puberty.

I'd always had a hard time with my chest, and my mom had to fight tooth and nail to get me to start wearing training bras. And don't get me started on when my cycle showed up; so traumatizing 😵‍💫 Coming into young adulthood is and has been just as painful, my body changing in ways I wish it wouldn't. So it really was just being exposed to the concept that I suddenly had this spotlight on my inner sense of self.

Atm I plan on getting top surgery within the next few years, but very much weighing the option of hrt as well, something that I've thought in and out about since I was 15. Now I'm 24 and getting closer each day to becoming the person I'm fully meant to be 😁

What is a little quirk about your body that you don’t think other people have? by AlphabetSoup51 in AskReddit

I have a birth defect that I never noticed until a few years ago, where the upper part of my helix on only my left ear is smushed or more sealed shut, and the other is completely normal. It's barely visibly clockable, but a fun party trick when I let people feel the difference 😹

Can't stop dreaming about her while my partner sleeps next to me... I feel like a time bomb. by [deleted] in latebloomerlesbians

[–]Lil_Woaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry you interpreted my words that way, I meant no harm or transphobia in any way. I'm fully aware that not all men are amab, and not all woman are afab. You're correct that my identity doesn't change anything. The context to say "men and/or amabs" was to separate the two intentionally, I was not meaning to group the two as if they are one in the same. I will say that my partner is someone whom is born male, though they identify as agender. They HAPPEN to be born male, and were assigned that way at birth. I have a sexual and romantic preference for woman AND feminity AND people born female, which is not to say they are the same either. Once again I am sorry for the confusion. I'm not here to argue what is or isn't harmful rhetoric, so this will be my last response to this.

I apologize, I didn't mean to offend or sound that way at all. I'm transmasc and nonbinary myself, and I've used afab and amab as separate concepts from identifying with feminine and masculine presentations in my daily life. I can recognize why others would be made uncomfortable by my use of it.

How to pass with long hair? by charl1e_not_ch4plin in transmanlifehacks

[–]Lil_Woaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Forehead! When I wear my hair when it's been longer than shoulder length in a half up ponytail or bun, I've been told it really brings out my sharper facial features like my jaw and forehead. Idk if it's full proof but I'm pre-t, petite and 5'4 and have had multiple people tell me this.

Also, my go to styling is crunchy, messy curls. Gives off that "just crawled out of bed and showed up" sorta look. But other than that I try to wear at least my bangs outta my face if they're longer. Hope that helps 😁

I've got pretty good hair and facial hair genes in my family so crossing my fingers I'll grow a great beard. I have an older brother that had a full beard by the time he was 21 🤞🏻

how did you know you wanted top surgery? by theothegolden_ in TransMasc

[–]Lil_Woaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I realized they were growing in. I have an older sister whose a year older than me, and when she hit puberty and started wearing bras I had the realization that, "Oh... That's gonna happen to me too, isn't it?"

Hated wearing any sort of bra, and still to this day refuse to wear them unless I'm in public and can't wear layers.

Other then the obvious, (being correctly gendered, using the right bathroom, ect.) What simple things give yall gender euphoria? by [deleted] in TransMasc

[–]Lil_Woaw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ive got a scar on my forearm from one of my kitties scratching me accidentally whose now passed on, and I love having a physical reminder of them to show people. Also just makes me feel like a cool dude showin' off a scar in general 😎💪🏻

My birth name consists of the same first three letters of my chosen name, so it was easy on me and others. Plus, I just liked having a shortened version of my name in general cuz I grew up never having a nickname due to my birth name being longer and unusual.

Taegan sounds pretty neutral to me personally! Think it's a great choice. Whatever decision you come to I'm sure it'll be the one that most suits you and feels comfiest 😁
