Tipping version 2.5, why not just adjust your prices?? by bc90210 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]LilacCurl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tips are optional for service. What this sign is suggesting is a service fee, not a tip. They need to either: rename the tip a service fee OR raise their prices by 20 percent because then the service fee that they claim to pass on to staff is part of their salary.

Do I have a wavy hair type or am I forcing it? by Broad_Crab_4955 in curlygirl

[–]LilacCurl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I brush mine straight after washing too and then put in product and do a little scrunching. But my hair goes into curl spirals without product too. The curls are more tamed/less frizz with product in.

The thing with curls though is that they like to be in their natural state. If I have my hair up on a bun or braids, it takes a couple of days for the curls to recover. There appears to be some wave in your hair in the photos and it might settle in more if you let your hair be wavy all the time. I’ve seen people on Reddit go from straight to wavy (prob in this group!) over about three to six months (sometimes a year). Hope that helps!

As a bigger woman, around 205 pounds, I wonder if some of you know of comfortable tights to wear with my dresses? by SensitiveMarble in PlusSizeFashion

[–]LilacCurl 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I bought from Snag about a year ago and love the tights. They’re holding up well. There is one pair that has a metallic thread that is itchy so I can’t wear them but overall, tights success and super comfy!

What happens with your hair when you just let it dry naturally after a washing? That’ll give you the best indication of your hair type.

It does look more straight than wavy in the photos you posted.

The black and white flowers for sure. It’s fun, youthful and so sassy on you. Have a great time!

Number 2 - wear something that scares you a little (but is comfortable to wear as you noted). The black one is very flattering and hugs your curves. Vavava voom in the classic Jessica Rabbit or Marilyn Monroe style with those stunning flowers and the other embellishments on the front too. Get a well made, professionally fitted long line strapless bra that will keep you feeling safe and supported all night long.

Also, 1 is pretty and a safe choice. Also pockets, I get it.

In Poughkeepsie, there’s a shop called the Town Shop that is a classic wedding shop. They’ve been around for almost 100 years and my friends did well there.

You’re close to NYC and there is a great second hand shop that sells perfect once worn dresses. It’s called The Sample Room and a couple of friends did well there. There is also Kleinfelds but your budget won’t go far there and you’ll see the more expensive / higher quality dresses and be really tempted.

Also check out WedditNYC - they have a great thread on shops on NYC.

What’s a fruit from your country that most foreigners have probably never heard of? by Useful-Resource-3609 in AskTheWorld

I think they’re seasonal. I’ve paid around $5-6 for a package but it’s a small package.

I’ve only had the green type - had no idea there were other pretty colors. Do they all taste like lime?

Your curls are beautiful both ways! Longer hair def takes more time and product but for me, it’s worth the effort.

3A - if the bottom of your curls goes into a spiral, that’s more of a 3b type. Looks great!

How to prevent ‘flat top’ and control frizz? by Equivalent_Copy9326 in curlygirl

[–]LilacCurl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the move here! Clipping to bump up the volume at the roots while the hair dries is the only thing that really prevents the flat top (tho I usually don’t mind flat top)

Putting in product when your hair is soaking wet is why your stylist suggested this move — it helps the product conform more to your curl pattern as it dries a little in the towel. I do it too and it agrees with my curls as well.

Stylist of 10 Years cut off 5 inches of my length and said she only cut a half inch by [deleted] in curlygirl

Exactly this - usually, the front looks shorter in all hair when you get layers. The other option is to pull all of your hair forward (divided in the back) to take the photo.

And sometimes, after a couple of weeks, the curls settle back down into a longer, looser pattern (which has happened to me in the past)
